  1. They have been. I guess the Sabres Beat Reporters are just as burnt out covering the team as we are watching them and haven’t posted anything yet
  2. This person was obviously referring to the Sabres as they mentioned the entire NHL knowing it. Since you brought up the other aspects of Pegula’s Empire let’s take a look at them. East Resources-the Pegula’s rode the fracking boom to becoming billionaires. You can’t buy NHL or NFL Franchises without being one. People need cheap NG to heat their homes so I guess weighing the pros and cons of fracking and the environmental impacts of it can be made at a later date. The Bills, making the the playoffs is fun every year, but the stated goal has been the Super Bowl. Unlike the Sabres, the Brandon Beane has full authority to spend and utilize whatever resources necessary in an attempt to achieve this goal. They made the AFC Championship Game four years ago and haven’t been back since. The Amerks have had intermittent playoff success but they had their operating budget cut during EEE and unfortunately they are linked to Pegula’s biggest CF They sold the Knighthawks this summer. Jessica Pegula is a very good tennis player with six career tournament wins. Unfortunately for her the great tennis players are recognized more for how many grand slam titles they have. Shayna Goldman who writes for the Athletic and who does appear on Sabres Live does commentary for tennis. She mentioned the distance between the top women players and Pegula is greater than the distance between her and the next tier of lower ranked players, From someone who works for the Bandits, Terry has minimal involvement with the team. Wasn’t on the field postgame when they won the NLL Championship last year and I do not believe he was even in the building. There seems to be an inverse relationship between the amount of involvement he has with his sports teams and that franchises success.
  3. Karmanos was offered the Canucks position by Rutherford before the the current GM took the job
  4. Since Winter mentioned the Sabres I highly doubt it happens He did have some good metrics last season in limited minutes
  5. The counter argument to this is this will be the first season the Sabres will not be in the bottom five in terms of spending, they will be 6th from the bottom. They were 32nd in spending two seasons ago when they missed the playoffs by one win. Since the stated goal coming the front office began last year they have been 29th in total spending and will be 27th this season after Boston signs Swayman and Detroit sign Seider and Raymond. The two seasons that the stated goal of the organization has been the playoffs they have so far left over 18 million dollars in unspent cap space. As Tom mentioned there was at least one deal in place that the owner squashed. This seems to be a deliberate plan from ownership. Only two teams have made the playoffs in the past decade that have been the the bottom ten of league spending. They are Carolina a few ago and Washington last season. You cannot win in the NHL without spending close to the cap, the analytics department, Karmanos, Adams all know this. Adams not being able to convince Pegula to do what is necessary is one of his biggest failures as a GM. “Everything the Pegula’s Touch turns to sh!t and the entire NHL knows it” this is from a well respected member of a NHL Front Office that Sabres Fans would love to have in the organization. Joshua Patrick Allen is the principal reason. Having a legitimate superstar as the QB in a league that prints money goes along way.
  6. Per His Agent Rich Winter Giordano’s goal is to pursue a Stanley Cup this season, but jumping on with a team like the Flames, which seems unlikely, or the Sabres, could be the first step towards that. “In Buffalo, who we’re talking to, they’ve got young kids who could benefit. They’re a little worried with his pedigree, will he be happy with the ice time, will he be happy if he’s a part-time player,” Winter stated. “Ultimately, Gio has to make a decision as to what will help him accomplish his goals.”
  7. How much does 97 get next summer? 16 to 18 million?
  8. Add Jack Quinn to the list
  9. For those who like analytics, they will be happy to hear he had a great relationship with the Devils Analytics Department, he frequently met with them and incorporated their suggestions into his game planning
  10. Frankly Adams wanted the first, same way as he tried to acquire Sean Monahan from Calgary. Johansen wouldn’t have played last year and if he did as going to be a problem this season he could have buried or bought out. Adams in many ways has sucked as a GM. The fact the owner has blocked, for multiple seasons, any attempt to take cap dumps for assets sucks even more.
  11. My neighbors did this last summer and absolutely loved it
  12. Fun fact had Pegula been willing to acquire Johansen in the Byram Trade, Colorado would have sent a 1st round pick with Him for the Sabres Trouble
  13. Tuch, Bryson and Dahlin were skating this AM at Harborcenter
  14. More GMs need to be like Armstrong
  15. The Red Wings, with Seider, Raymond and Berggren needing new deals, most likely move the Sabres to 7th on the list. Add not being able to convince the owner to spend additional money towards building a playoff team to the list of complaints about Adams. Plus it should be changed from the 3 Es to the 2 Es because they sure as hell haven’t been effective.
  16. No salary retention by Columbus
  17. This frees up cap space for them to possibly match both deals. With Ceci gone and Kane on LTIR they would have 149k remaining in space
  18. No, but I had two vivid dreams about three months apart of Josh Allen winning His Second SuperBowl MVP with the Bills
  19. I imagine the players on the Amerks will play the games on September 26th and 28th and the players that will constitute the Sabres Final Roster will play the game in Munich
  20. The NCAA has been heading towards this, Jeff Marek mentioned the last holdouts have been the head coaches.. This most likely expedients the process. The USHL most likely will be adversely impacted as the higher end college bound talent can chose the CHL.
