Minnesota makes so much sense for both sides. Michael Russo who covers them for the Athletic has reported Minnesota wouldn’t be adverse to allowing Him to have the procedure and if the Sabres would take the 10 million in salary back the deal would probably be done.

From Mike Russo of The Athletic. That’s why nothing’s transpired, at least yet, between the Wild and Sabres regarding Jack Eichel, Buffalo’s disgruntled No. 1 center. The Sabres have not come off their ask of at least four future assets the equivalent of first-round picks for the $10 million-a-year star. So the Wild and Sabres find themselves in a game of chicken. Guerin doesn’t want to decimate his franchise by selling the farm, but he also can’t find a way to satisfy the Sabres’ request unless they are willing — or another team is willing — to essentially take $10 million worth of players from Minnesota. Guerin’s either going to have to be patient and wait out the Sabres until their asking price significantly drops or simply find other ways to fill out his roster. As of now, Sabres GM Kevyn Adams doesn’t sound like he’s going to drop the price for Eichel, take on lucrative salaried players in the midst of an obvious rebuild, or retain any of Eichel’s salary. One year of Victor Rask at 4 Million and two years of Matt Dumba at six million gets them there. That is if Minnesota wants to move Him The Sabres could retain salary and flip Dumba if he doesn’t want to waive His M NTC for Buffalo

It won’t happen, but a third team should retain salary in an Eichel Trade to get His AAV Down to a more manageable level for Minnesota. The question is the cost of doing so -
Shea Weber - Won't Play 2022, Likely Never Again

If he retired with one year left on His Deal, yes. Since Weber has 5 years left it’s actually 4.9 Million per season -

They are not going to trade Him anymore. Had Price not waved His NMC, Montreal was going to move Him so they did not lose Him for nothing in the expansion draft. -

Good stuff Wild, the schedule will have a three week All Star-Olympic Break build in. NHL Olympic Participation TBD. Supposedly will start around October 12th and end around Mid April.

All over a second round pick.

From the Athletic Ristolainen watch The Sabres have some pretty solid interest from teams on Rasmus Ristolainen, who has one year left on his contract. The general asking price is believed to be a first-round pick and a prospect. Among the clubs who have inquired are Montreal and Winnipeg, for obvious reasons. The Jets are scouring the D market from top to bottom looking for blue line upgrades, which everyone knew would be the case this offseason. The Habs, of course, need to replace Shea Weber and in Ristolainen — while obviously an inferior player — there’s a similar big body at least. But I also think the Habs have a few other defencemen on their shortlist slotted ahead of Ristolainen.
