  4. The initial reports after the NHL and NHLPA had spoken to Johnny Gadreau and Boone Jenner were that the matter was resolved. However as reported on the latest episode of 32 Thoughts from today, things changed once the NHLPA President Marty Walsh met with some of the younger players on Columbus, they apparently flew to Columbus to do so yesterday, this appears to be the major focus of their investigation. The also reportedly reached out to some Toronto and former Red Wings who played for Babcock as well. There should be a conclusion sometime soon.

  9. From The Athletic On Sanderson’s whopping eight-year deal with the Senators and how it affects Power’s, who has a year left on his entry-level deal with the Sabres. When you’re a year out with an entry-level player — Jake had another year left under contract — you rarely do a bridge. You do a bridge at the end of a contract. Usually you explore a seven- or eight-year deal if you’re a year out. … First of all, Jake was happy there, sees the future. He likes where the organization’s going, and therefore we went right to eight years, so there’s no question, especially a year out. … We’ve had a few conversations (with Buffalo on Power) and now camp is a week away from now, so we’re going to continue to talk. Of course, Owen and Jake are within similar comps. You always bring a pool of about seven to 10 players, so we’ll see how it goes.

  19. The latest Maintenance Day Pod mentioned that Dahlin and Samuelsson are not the best pairing based on analytics. They also mentioned Granato hinted at having players spread out on all three pairings so they can roll three pairs more consistently. Dahlin and Power were the best together, but that should be only a situational pairing. Dahlin and Jokiharju actually worked very well together this past season, demonstrating how much better Dahlin has been playing. Based on their conversations I could see pairings of Dahlia-Jokiharju Power-Clifton Samuelsson-Johnson. With the pairings becoming Dahlin-Power when the Sabres are trailing in the third period and Dahlin-Samuelsson when protecting a lead.
  20. Here is a Power Comparison
