Mixed results The prospect pool looks a lot better since they started helping with the draft. Younger Players are being locked into team friendly contracts based on their recommendations. The UFA acquisitions that have been made by the team are horrible, so that is a strike against them. Granato isn’t making the most effective lineup decisions for the team based analytics, AKA He doesn’t always listen to them. . Overplaying Zemgus and Okposo in key situations, continually playing Dahlin and Samuelsson together even though the data shows they are much better apart. They do have both private data they gather themselves and data that is exclusive to NHL Teams at their disposal. I remember @Neo mentioning He had dinner with someone who worked in Hockey Analytics and confirmed how much more extensive the private data the teams have is. Of the public models Evolving Hockey and Hockey Viz are the most credible.

So Bills Fans are supposed to accept mediocrity and regression because the AFC is a better conference? The Chiefs and Bengals have represented the AFC in the Superbowl over the past four years, the difference in talent between these teams and the Bills is minimal over the same period. The difference in Head Coaches is light years apart.

The designers of the public models frequently posted here such as Natural Stat Trick, Moneypuck Hockey Viz and Evolving Hockey will tell you that their models require a minimum of ten games, preferably twenty before any real patterns or data can be drawn, so the example you outlined would not have a discernible effect unless it happened to the same player multiple times establishing a pattern of poor play. The “Computer Nerds” employed by the Sabres watch every game the team plays a minimum of 2-3 times, once live and the other times on replay to make sure their data lines up with what they are seeing. There is quite a bit of IDGAF towards fancy stats on this board which is every posters right. I personally like them as it gives another piece of information about players. That being said most of the successful teams in the league utilize analytics in personnel decisions, deciding lineup configurations and deployment of players. I want My Team doing the same.

McDermott’s conservative approach cost them with 13 seconds left against the Chiefs, overriding the ST Coordinator and telling Bass to kick it deep rather then squibbing it and taking time off the clock, then having the defense play prevent D way off the receivers and giving up the game tying FG. Allen had been moving the ball today and had close to 350 yards passing at the end of regulation. Taking the timeout to ice the kicker was idiotic, but kneeling down at the end of regulation with Allen playing in beast mode with 20 seconds left on the clock and a TO was unacceptable. Beane has legitimately built a Super Bowl Contender over the past four seasons. They have been to the AFC Championship Game once, lost in the divisional round, barely beat a 3rd string QB in Wild Card only to lose in the divisional round again and now in the fourth year are in serious jeopardy of missing the playoffs all together. They are regressing as a team, not getting better. The Eagles have had two HCs since McDermott took over the Bills (Pederson was hired the year before McDermott) both have taken the Eagles to the Superbowl, with one victory, the Bills need to match to this standard

It’s not them moving on from Diggs, it would be Diggs moving on from them. He turns 30 in 3 days and I think He realizes He is not winning a Super Bowl with McDermott in charge. Maybe a change in HC prevents that, but there has been way to much chatter about Him being unhappy with certain aspects of the team cough Mc Dermott cough I would not hesitate to move on from McDermott for one second if that’s what is needed to keep Allen and Diggs happy And they need another WR, going that direction In the first round would be a good move

A change needs to happen before Allen asks out. I’m afraid they are past that point with Diggs already. Nate Burleson tweeted how they can spread His 31 million dead cap hit over two seasons with a post 6/1 trade. 8 million in 2024 and 23 million in 2025 with the cap going up. For the record I would absolutely hate them moving on from Diggs.

Toronto has made the playoffs for seven consecutive years and usually finishes in the top 10 in the league for total points. Yes they have only advanced to the second round once but it is still better than then a 12 year and counting playoff drought

Supposedly they alternate picks. The Analytics Department gets the first pick every draft those. The Leinonen Pick was definitely not on them. The biggest hurdle is getting the coaching staff on board. Granato insisting on keeping Dahlin and Samuelsson together despite having better metrics apart is an example Carolina has one of the top analytics staff in the league and Brindamour was very hesitant to use the information at first. He said in an interview I do not understand where a lot of the data comes from, but I know it works when I use it
