  1. *Come in here, dear boy, have a cigar, you're gonna go far*
  2. What's to say he doesn't like it here and in two years the Sabres should be winning a lot more.
  3. 1. Probably not. 2. Probably not. No cross boarder issues staying in Canada. I really doubt that the AHL has anything to do with this. He has played in the AHL for much of his pro career. I think that either he will play in Europe or he has decided to call it a career. Best wishes to him regardless.
  4. They probably wouldn't want him, but you never know. I have to think that he has some options in the cooker, but maybe he has decided that this is the end.
  5. Added ... MSG and WGR NOT ADDED (but still true) ... SN in Canada and on *pirate satellite orbiting your living room*
  6. I'll leave the light on for yous. We don't have any snow yet, but the surf is up.
  7. Two upsets sp far today. Lets see if Canada can capitalize. Group F is pretty wide open now with Morocco currently leading. Who would have thought that would be the case at any point. MUST WIN!! GO CANADA!! This is the biggest international match in the history of Canadian football. +++++ Canada has to beat Croatia by 2 goals to move into second spot in the group. GO CANADA!!
  8. Awesome post @Thorny. You should be le bored more often. I even agree with a lot of what you said. I liked the funny bits too. You used strategery to place them at optimum points.
  9. This is the WC. England is a top 5 side in the world. The stragegy for any team at this stage is to play for a draw and try to limit mistakes. The US strategy was to play for a scorless draw yesterday. Boring yes, but they are trying to find their way into the knockout stage when anything could happen. They played a perfect match for this situation with the goal to beat Iran, who is no pushover, to reach the round of 16. This is the WC final there are no easy matches here. It is very unlikely that the host would have qualified on merit, but that is often the case.
  10. I understand the tensions in the region better than many, but this is one of the most shameful things I have seen in some time. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/63768983?at_medium=RSS&at_campaign=KARANGA Just shameful. Serbia should be disqualified immediately if not sooner, but I don't expect anything to happen. The sooner that Serbia gets their act together and recognizes the independent Kosovo the better off they will all be.
  11. The one thing that Ruff had in his first few years was Hasek. Hasek really was a huge factor in that teams success. After Hasek determined his exit the team treaded water or worse until Miller arrival and his becoming a true #1 goalie. The rest of the team developed with Miller and when Drury and Briere were added the team became gold. All that does not take anything away from coach Ruff. Ruff may consider returning much like Sutter did with Calgary ... to try to finish the unfinished business.
  12. When Ruff was named coach the team had a very young and developing core. Peca was 24. They had some key veterans in key positions, especially on D. That was the 1998 season. A semi-final playoff loss season. The team was coached to a position above expectations. 1999 was a cup final loss season with the same young and developing core. Again coached above what anyone expected. Fast forward almost 10 years and the new young core was built for the post lockout era and again was coached above expectations in 2005/06 to the semi final level. Injuries played a key role in that loss. The next season playoff expectations were too great and the players thought they could stroll to a cup. We all know that does not work unless you are an very stacked team. Bottom line is ... Ruff is a fantastic coach. If he is available and willing the Sabres have to give it serious thought. KA is very loyal though, especially to his coach who is also a good coach.
  13. My home ... Prospect, NS Halifax now has 500,000 people.
  14. Thanks for stopping by. Pretty much all the matches have been very entertaining. Through in some huge upset results and it's a good WC so far. Hate the location, but what can we do. FIFA is corrupt and always will be no matter who is in charge and who ends up in jail.
  15. Why does squish not pass the filter ?? SQUISH THE FISH !! GO BILLS !!
  16. Right. They all start at one and tonight will be #2 for them. Therefore, a streak ...
  17. Do you mean ... Inge Hammarström ?? And how advanced were they over all the other Europeans ?? Perhaps you mean they were the advance scouts ?? Taro, Taro, Taro ... you usually type your English very goodly ...
  18. MUST WIN!! GO SABRES!! I think the Jevils lost to The Great Satan the other night, so it seems that thy are starting a losing streak. And @Eleven ... GA is right ... it's the 25th not 24th.
  19. Good thing Bass is pretty much money on the FG. From the jaws of tie to victory. 8 - 3 is what it is. The Bills are and will continue to be fine. It's the NFL. These days no team is running away from all the rest. JA is a superstar. Diggs is pretty much there too.
