  1. It was bad all night, but is better this AM. It's actually warming up rapidly and will be +3 (feels like -3) this afternoon with the wonderful *mixed precipitation* ... now that's more like it. Wood stove was burning all day yesterday and into the night. Let it die down overnight, but still toasty in here. I am working in my office this morning (taking a bit of a break to catch up here) so I have not started the fire yet. it may be too warm out later this afternoon to light a fire, but will be burning this evening / night. I agree, there is nothing like it. You need to get one installed, my friend.
  2. So sad to hear this news, my friend. Seems like you are in good hands, but just in case you know who did Johnny Boy's surgery (insert winkie - winkie thingie here). Take good care and listen to the damn doctors. Thoughts and Prayers sent your way and I will continue to do so.
  3. So you are either in Cleveland, LA or Miami. Since it's bloody February that should rule out Cleveland (who would vacation there from WNY in February ??). So, either LA or Miami. I think LA is over-rated as a vacation spot and too snooty for the @Taro T family. That leaves the land of the Fish. If you hear someone say that they intend to make you swim with the Fishes ... run away very fastly.
  4. You had me until the OT in the regular season part. Give me back ties in the regular season. I like the idea that has been tossed around here for some time and @Hank just posted it yesterday ... a football style scoring system where the winner gets 3 points and 1 point each for a tie at the end of regulation. No OT and no shootout monsense.
  5. Being right on the Atlantic (literally ... I can see it from my office window and can walk to it in not even 1 minute) helps moderate things. That said, we have been having a mild and relatively dry winter. Rain more than snow. We have been having more and more tropical storms in the last few years. Hurricane Juan (2003) devastated the area and it was a new thing. Since then we have had many more hurricanes and near hurricanes than ever. We have had torrential rains and winds when advisories had to be issued in January this year. @Wyldnwoody44 is right in that something is going on ... global warming / changing is a thing that is real. How much impact we are having can be debated and in the end it doesn't really matter. Our time on the planet is just a blip. Our planets time in the universe is just a blip. Earth will be here long after we humans have died off in the next mass extinction. A new Earth will replace this one eventually. Anyway, this extreme cold is not the norm, but the norm is changing quickly.
  6. Dude can vote 8 times, eh. And *they* said that the Ruskies fix the elections.
  7. -16 and feels like -27 right now. That's +3 and -17 for yous degrees F heathans. Going to be -23 and feel like -39 early tomorrow morning and not much better all day and Sunday. Monday may be okay. Hope we don't lose power (high winds too). That's -9 and -38 for yous guys. Very near the -40 equalization.
  8. You know and love our Liger as I do, but sometimes he just has to state that he respectfully disagrees. Even if it's unclear as to the particulars of that respectful disagreement. You know ??
  9. It's so cold (-11) this morning that there is ice on the inner bay and smoke on the outer bay. Still expecting -26 and feels like -43 early Saturday morning.
  10. What in the blazes is going on here ... https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/hourly-weather-forecast/nova-scotia/terence-bay Saturday in the early AM we are getting -26 and feels like -43 !! Really !! This is not Winterpeg or Edmonton or any of the other cold places in Canada.
  11. @Jävə Keith ,,, thanks for all the love in this thread.
  12. I probably will never watch the show, but I am in love with Wednesday ... I love The Cramps too.
  13. Not a fan atoll of the SO. The OT is okay to see if a team gets the extra point if the NHL must. I am in favour of the old system where if a game ends in a tie so be it. Both teams get a point and call it a day. The Wild are a good team (I loved their uniform colours last night) and so are the Sabres. A tie between them is a fair result.
  14. When I was in college we would watch WWF on network tv on Saturday night as a pub crawl primer. Free !! No pay per view. I remember the very first Wrestlemania. Hulk Hogan and Mt. T. and a whole bunch of others ... 9 fights. Andre the Giant and Big John Stud tried to body slam each other. 1985 ... what a beaut !!
  15. Again, the Bills are top 3 AFC and top 5 NFL. All teams have issues, except maybe the Bengals right now, but they lost the big game last year. They have some injuries and don't seem to have much of a running game. Anyway, the Bills issus are not as serious as some here think. They are not in cap trouble really. It can be managed. JA did them a big favour as Mahomes did in KC and Burrow will do. They need to be smart and play every move right. Just like every other top team has to in order to stay there. They will be in contention for the duration of JA's tenure with the team.
  16. I'll just leave this here ... https://www.dunnsfamous.com/en/
  17. I never lived in the area, but my cousin married a Canadian from Welland and lived there for years. She was from Buffalo originally. She was a big Sabre fan so maybe she found other Sabre fans in the area. There were alot of them at least in the 70s to about 1982 ... it all seemed to go downhill after Bowman took the Sabres from a very nearly cup cusp in the 1980 playoff to a nothingberger in the early 80s to about 1990 something when they ran him outta town and brought in that Edmonton guy who tried his best to turn the Sabres into his Oiler image, but with all the old and washed up guys and not Mess or Gretz. Paging @woods-racer to the @Eleven bashing on Erie, PA thread.
  18. Thanks for getting the ball rolling for us wyld. You are a *real wild child* and we love you for that. This should be a good one. The Wild are good, but not like they were when they first signed Parise and Suter all those years ago. Time flys by. MUST WIN !! GO SABRES !!
  19. As a teen (13 to 16 - too young to drive ... things were different then ... I would not let my 13 year old loose in downtown Toronto now) we would take the TTC (bus and subway) from suburbia to Young Street at Bloor in The Great Satan. 'Sam the Record Man' had their main shop in the whole country just a few steps south towards dowtown and the lake. The new releases were available there at midnight on release day and first available anywhere in the country ... everywhere else hd them the next morning when record shops opened. It was a tradition for a bunch of us, but we soon found that our tastes in music changed in the next few years. We would still do the tradition, but it became more a hanging out thing on many occasions since we were not all there for the new release. Great times. I turned 15 in 1979. That was the year I discovered The Clash.
