It seems that Hall's NMC had limitations and Chcago was not on his no-trade list. Looks like he had no voice in the trade. Sucka !! Although, Chicago is a great place to play hockey.

If not as a player he should be in as a 'builder' for defecting. I will argue that Luce and Smilin' Ger should be in too for orchestrating it. Real spy novel stuff right there. Makes no difference that the Soviet Union was crumbling at the time. I say put 'em all in in special corner and tell the story of the defection. Add some about his 76 goal season and the other stuff he did on the ice.

I agree with all this. What people should be focusing their attention on much more so than the past is the present. Their energies should be dedicated to eliminate the slavery that exists in many parts of the world to this day. Every year Canada brings in many foreigh 'workers' to work the farms all over this 'great' country. It's back breaking work for basically slave labour wages. And that is publicly known. In most of Africa and Asia slaves are used in all labour and as payment of family and business debts. Slaves were used to build the infrastructure in Qatar for the recent World Cup there and no one cared. If slavery was so terrible in the Western world that we need to erase it from history then what about slavery today?

The best General he had. Lee was a staunch abolitionist and did not own slaves. He publicly stated that he was against slavery and always was. Lee's issue was with his home state of Virginia had seceded from the Union and he would not fight against his home state. He was the best General in that stupid war, but ended up on the losing side only because of the blockade of Southern ports and lack of industry in the south. How's that for random ramblings?

He is. As a rookie on just about any team he would be #2. On some he would be #1. He is #3 on the Sabres in 'name only' as Dahlin needs his Mule.

Power needs a vet to mentor him on the ice and off it. No. So. The Sabres brought in Patrick when he was a fraction of his former self. The Sabres D need a vet on the ice and in the room.

I would sign him for 1 year, maybe 2, years to be the stable vet presence for Power that he needs. I don't care about his scoring stats. 2 years at $5M per.

This is a very reasonable take. After the 4 year bridge he is still RFA. It will cost the Sabres more to sign him for 4 and then 8, but they may not care about that. Seems that KA does not take this approach, but he did sign Dahlin to his 3 year bridge deal in 2021. Maybe he will do the same for Power. That way he will have both for at least another 9 years. At that time both will still be in their prime. If he does 4 and then 8 for Power then he can sign Dahlin for another 5 year deal (at age 32) with 3 years left on the Power 8 year deal*. Not a bad idea atoll. * I'm a CPA and not a math wize, so somebody needs to fact check my math here.

John Herdman is a fantastic football coach. He has taken the CMT to another level. We are lucky to have him as our field manager. His point about money is not lost on me, but, dude, you need to find and develop better players. I know that it all takes money, but to moan about not having enough money when your side falls short in the final to a higher ranked squad you need to find and develop better players. Team USA and Team Mexico are not funded like the big sides in Europe ot South America.
