I would sign him for 1 year, maybe 2, years to be the stable vet presence for Power that he needs. I don't care about his scoring stats. 2 years at $5M per.

This is a very reasonable take. After the 4 year bridge he is still RFA. It will cost the Sabres more to sign him for 4 and then 8, but they may not care about that. Seems that KA does not take this approach, but he did sign Dahlin to his 3 year bridge deal in 2021. Maybe he will do the same for Power. That way he will have both for at least another 9 years. At that time both will still be in their prime. If he does 4 and then 8 for Power then he can sign Dahlin for another 5 year deal (at age 32) with 3 years left on the Power 8 year deal*. Not a bad idea atoll. * I'm a CPA and not a math wize, so somebody needs to fact check my math here.

John Herdman is a fantastic football coach. He has taken the CMT to another level. We are lucky to have him as our field manager. His point about money is not lost on me, but, dude, you need to find and develop better players. I know that it all takes money, but to moan about not having enough money when your side falls short in the final to a higher ranked squad you need to find and develop better players. Team USA and Team Mexico are not funded like the big sides in Europe ot South America.

What makes you think that Johnny told bad things? By all accounts his time here was good and he loved the community. He disagreed with the Sabres on how best to treat his neck issues. That's it. End of story. In the end I bet he will tell all manner of good things on how he was treated and ended up in Vegas and now will have his name on the cup.

I get that. My Angry NS comment was if the Sabres CHOOSE to bridge. I should have been more specific, but I think that many caught my drift. Of course, we will likely never know who initiated a bridge deal. I will go by KA's pattern lately of signing core players, I include Power in the core now as I did in the core 5 thread, to long-term deals.

Expect Angry NS to show up if they sign Power to a 2 year bridge deal. Huge mistake there, IMO. They should lock him up for 8. That means 9 more years of our top 2 D.

I don't think phisicality is a real word. The Sabres need a legit #4 for Power. I wonder if new coachie in Calgary would dislike Weegar? Probably not. Hanifan would be a good fit I think. Could probably sign hin for 5 for $7 or so. Not sure what to do about a goaler.

I don't care enough about John John either way. Happy for him and his teammates to have won the cup. The hardest trophy to win in pro sport. My problem is that their team is based in Vegas. I don't like when these non-hockey market teams win it. If Vegas stinks next season the arena will be empty.
