  1. That's quite a story Randall. Yuri has told me that the tank forced him out. He has always likes Marner and he has moved on to the Leafs. He has other interesting ties to Toronto now, but I won't share those.
  2. There is nothing wrong with how you handled the situation. Following up is recommended after a reasonable time has passed (that is just how you feel about it), especially if it was open-ended. It would have been good, but not easy, to try to pin down the timing for the next steps at the end of their interview. Asking that final person to poke around may be a bit further than I would have gone, but it's probably not going to blow up on you. It's a very fine line between being seen as keen and being too pushy. I hope this is not the case for you, Inky, but from my experience this often means that some executive's kid needs a job and they want to give it to them. Often this is all but arranged and the company goes through the interview process to make it look good and, maybe, meet some legal requirements. That said, as others have pointed out, this time of year everything is basically shut down. I'll be thinking of you and hope for the best.
  3. This is not surprising, as the 'fans' can't get into a game in Toronto. All the straight-lased suit wearing (hold up, I often wear a suit, so I can say it) corporate types are just there to make deals and entertain each other. I agree Montreal (never been to the new arena, but The Forum was great) fans are fantastic.
  4. Yes. Yes, I do. And their point production, I believe, will end being comparable long-term.
  5. That is not possible. Plain old Leaf fans can't even take over their arena. What in the hell? This I agree with. It's a challenge to the home team fans to up their game. Soccer stadiums always have designated areas for visiting fans. It is one of the most awesome things in European football and I think that MLS is trying to do the same thing.
  6. Orange Tabby ... he will be abl to take care of himself against all your beasts.
  7. Until now. Dahlin is still developing, obviously, but he fits the bill, unless something unforeseen happens. He is a Dman that any team in the league would be willing to build their team around, IMHO. Hey, look who has made bail. Thanks, Eleven for pulling all the strings that needed pulling.
  8. Our neighbourhood (well many of us did) took care of a beautiful stray cat for 20+ years. He had a heated hut that was lined with blankets and straw. He ate very well. He had a great life. Better than some people, sadly. He passed away late October.
  9. Why don't you try to coax it inside?
  10. That's twice what Mr. Pegula paid for the team. Not a bad increase in value there.
  11. For the Sabres I would say so, but I don't think they would be viewed as such outside of Buffalo. Soupy? Maybe. There is not a hard and fast definition, but it is commonly understood that a true franchise dman would be the one you would build your team around, or any team in the league would be willing to do that. I don't think any Sabre Dman ever would be that. Until now that is. I really think that any team would be willing to build around Dahlin.
  12. IMHO, if we are building a real rivalry again let the Leaf fans come to Buffalo. I just hope that the most common result over the years continues and that they leave Buffalo with their heads down, just like the Leaf players. It is too bad that Sabres fans can't make the treck up north, though. No tickets can be had in Toronto. Even your everyday Leaf fan can't get them. That is part of my issues with The Great Satan.
  13. Paging Woody!! Come in Rudy!! Is anyone near the county jail? If so, please look for Woody. He was supposed to be at the game last night. Has anyone seen a report from Woodsie?
  14. Have the Sabres ever had one? Legit question. We have had some very good ones over the years, but a true 'franchise' dman? Housley? Maybe. I think he was gifted offensively, but otherwise flawed. Therefore, not one. Who else?
  15. Oh, that's right we have a nooner coming up on Saturday. Excuse me, while I make some notes for the GDT.
  16. Is there another Bale? The only one I know of is the Welsh footballer.
  17. Sorry, I was not clear (not the first time). I meant if he is called up do you think he will play, or be in the press box for the Sabres?
  18. And just think he was 'that' close to being a Sabre. Who was GM then? They should have been fired on the spot. IMHO, if Bossy was the pick in that draft the Sabres would have had a cup in the spring of 1980. He was the difference in that semi-final series.
  19. Are we talking goals scored only here? I think that Bossy is still on top of that pile. Correct. And Gretz was not known as a 'pure goal scorer'. More of an assist guy. Also, what about Hull (Brett). He has to be up there I would think.
  20. I get that, but do you think he will actually play? It's that bad? Oh, yeah, what's his name (the guy that looks like the killer in all the slasher movies) ... Nelson? went down last night.
  21. If one is talking goals scored per game played then no one has surpased Bossy. Not even Gretz. Also, worth noting the number of key Bossy scored goals in the playoffs. Several game winners and series winners, IIRC.
