  1. That was great. I feel like I have put in some overtime on this game day thingie. I'm beat. NS out.
  2. I feel so bad for him. He was a good soldier and no one deserves to be booed by the home crowd and to hear their own fans cheer for losing. Shameful.
  3. I am late for duty in the GDT because I had to look into this a bit more, as something was not sitting just right, eh. Turns out you may be onto something here. The CBS execs had their PR types come up with something to hype the next greatest band they just signed. So, The Clash were just hitting their prime. The CBC PR types came up with ... 'the only band that matters'. Sometime after the ultimate demise of the band (IMO, they should have disbanded in 1983 and not fired Mick and Topper) in 1985 ... 2 years too late, but ... Someone came up with ... 'the only band that ever mattered' , which I like a lot and only could have started post Clash, right? I have no clear indication who started it. It may have been Joe, but as far as I know he never owned it. It may have been the PR people at CBS, since the band was still under contract and there was more $ to be made even after they disbanded. 'Complete Control' is absolutely spot on in so many ways. One of my favourites, but then again, they all are.
  4. CASEY!! SKINNY!! (some Dog) THAT OTHER GUY!! This scoring summary brought to you by NS.
  5. This next musical ditty goes out to my friend, chz.
  6. NS reporting for duty. Has the game started yet?
  7. I hear you. Cut the Crap is NOT a Clash album. My Clash includes Mick and Topper. Terry in a pinch, but greatly prefer the drum work of Topper.
  8. You are banned from this thread, sunshine, or something like that?
  9. Not so, my friend. It was someone at their record label (CBS) that came up with it. Joe was actually very upset about it, as were Mick and Paul. They would not have been upset if they had not sold their souls, but they desperately needed to get their message to the masses. Not to mention, their weasel of a manager (Bernie Rhodes, of The Specials *Gangsters* infamy) had to keep up with that other weasel Malcolm McLaren who just got the Pistols signed to a record deal.
  10. Which one of you yahoo's is robo calling me from North Carolina. Office and cell. I really think some Canes fans are trolling me big time. +++++ Hey Boyes, That is one skinny foot you have there and hairy toes.
  11. Details Tom. Give us all the details. What have you heard? Is it ______________, or is it __________. You have to fill in the blanks, man.
  12. I admit that I have not watched more than a few highlights of him, but he really does seem to be the real deal. I think MacKinnon will be an effective tool in talking with him when it comes to contract negotiations. It very well could lead to another fantastic deal for the Avs and a insanely high, but not crazy pay day for him. I still think MacKinnon is the better player, as he is a centre.
  13. Not to be a pain about this and I understand where you are coming from, but the Leafs are not in competition with the Blue Jays, Raptors and especially the Argos.
  14. Yes. I should have been more clear ... NHL monoploly, which is were the $ is.
  15. My reply was not based on anything other than being silly, since Bogo and Kane were teamates at the time, but thanks for the actual info.
  16. I am this close to dispatching a NS ground and sea search party to Nebraska. Randall is (not) surprisingly MIA.
  17. Southern Ontario, which would include a large area that would be a second team draw area is about 13 million ... probably at least 10 million within an hour of Toronto (not in rush hour). The Great Satan Area has about 6.5 million. So, population is not the problem. Corporate sponsorship is not the problem. The Leaves wanting to maintain their monopoly is the problem.
  18. That is basically what chz said and I am trying to stick to that. The Flyers are 'special' as are the Bruins. So, I will have to restrain myself for that one. When I do them and I do expect that I will at some point, but my work schedule has allowed it and that is likely to change soon, I may not be able to in a timely fashion, I will stick to the more standard thread title stuff and make a first post as I see fittest (is that a word?).
  19. I'm not either and the only that I recall mentioning it was Hoss. The other thing is that chz unofficially warned me about being so flamboyoant in starting the GDT. It threw me a bit, as it seemed to be received well by the masses, in general. It seemed that it helped with the fun aspect. That said, I took her for her word, as I really do appreciate and respect the work she, nfreeman and SDS do here to make this all work. I did not want to do anything that would possibly make the board not as good as they want to see it.
  20. Oh, man. That's right. Sorry, but we can't wait around while you lolygag (?) about as if it's a Sunday afternoon and you are lazing.
  21. LOL!! Your GDT take works for me. It is so very tempting for me to unleash the flamboyant me and start the GDT, but my W/L track record has not been stellar of late. And there were very few logged on when I posted that ... MODO, who I will remind you was on late morning Swedish time, eh ... was one of them. (insert winkie-winkie thingie here)
  22. I like The Cure a lot, but greatest ever? We all know that The Clash was the only band that ever mattered. Therefore, greatest ever. I am well known as a lover and not a fighter, but I will fight anyone on this point. With Queen being a very distinguished 1A+. Completely agree with your take on the RnR Hall of Fame. Of all the Hall of Fames it is the most Hall of Fameish.
  23. GO SAMSON!! We are counting on you to score a goal and assist on another, at least.
