Sabres Fan in NS

Once the decision was made to go full scorched earth there was no other way except for a slow rebuild. That is JBOT's stated plan. Trading for a 2C at this point is a desperate move and goes against his plan. I assume you meant Murray going bonkers and trading everybody. He tried some desperate moves and they all backfired terribly and we had to pretty much start over. You mentioned the ROR trade as being bad, but in JBOT's mind, obviously it had to be made. I would think that trading away one of the best two way centres in the NHL was not easy.

I was one of the very few anti-tankers primarily because I felt it was wrong and because that it set up the very likely possibility of a prolonged period of losing. I am just afraid that if we trade now than the proper rebuilding plan will be so disrupted that it will set us back again. Your points are well made and duly noted, though.

I do not agree with what you are selling here, but like LGR, I welcome you and your contributions (you have defended your points well in your first post and I would say that many here will agree with your stance) to our little corner of the Internet. So, the two teams are not all that different. And then more stuff that is very similar. Our GM is better, so far, since he has not been fired yet.

Of course, plans can, do and should change when needed. I don't think at this point the plans have deviated so much as to have JBOT going after a 2C. IMO, if he did, as @... said, the plan has been blown up.

Sorry ... to be clear I think Mitts will be a very good 2C for the Sabres. My second point in that sentence was about JBOT not trading for a 2C, which is what I would be surprised at ... if he does trade for a 2C.

Your proposal is what everyone would call a 'hockey trade', which I think all would welcome. I am not suggesting we trade Samson, but if he is part of a package to bring in a 2C then maybe. Although that would be trading one of our few good wingers, which would leave the Sabres with that problem compounded. If the powers that be still believe Mitts will develop into a 2C then JBOT will not be trading for one. I actually will be very surprised if he does. To me bringing in a 2C now smells of desperation and deviates from the plan.

I really do not want the Sabres to be sellers regardless of the standings. Keep fighting to the bitter end for once in 7, or 8, years.

So far, not so good, eh? I have read a lot of 'trade speculation' posts in this thread and, IIRC, only about 1 trade.

I was thinking the same thing, but about the scouting departments. I think most GMs listen to their scouts when it comes to the draft.

I had not even thought of that part of it. The game was frustrating, but what I find much more frustrating is that someone here is actually advocating for the Sabres to lose more in order to enhance their draft position. Have we not *suffered* enough already? I think the break will do the team and the fans good. We all need to regenerate.
