Damn is right. On the other hand, TG didn't take over a team that was about to be gutted. Bankrupt, yes, but not about to be torn to the studs, or less. I give full marks to the NHL when they controlled the team for that brief, but stressful, period that they let DR run it in a reasonable fashion and the NHL payed the bills. If that didn't happen, at very least, the Sabres would not be in Buffalo now and at worst would have folded. So, the 8 years under TG cannot be compared to the 8 under TP. We will need another few years, maybe by year 10 the team will be back to where it was when TG took over. Damn!!

There is no comparison. Literally. The game(s) and players have evolved so much that a comparison can't really be made. The players today are like Steve Austin, Astronaut and the world's first bionic man ... faster and stronger ... compared to the 1970's players. Also, as @Eleven points out the equipment is very different too.

A Duchene signing would smack of the signings during the first FA period after the Pegula's bought the Sabres. None of which worked out. So, I would be very surprised if the Sabres even attempt to sign Duchene, which is not to say they won't.

I do not have any more time then it took to look at the score sheet. So, what has happened to the primary scoring? The difference appears to be that the Hawks big 3 brought their 'A' games, while the Sabres big 3 did not. Back in the day I would have loved the point for the tie against the Hawks, but not yesterday. Who's next and when.
