Bennett would be a good addition, but he isn't a second line centre, IMO. I think he has played a lot of wing. He is an upgrade to the overall talent level of the Sabres, but I don't think he fills the most glaring need.

The reports I am hearing is that it was hard to tell exactly who it was, but I would be shocked if it were not him. Everyone on the plane were driven directly to a downtown hotel where the Raptors executives were seen entering earlier. I think there will be an announcement tomorrow morning that he has signed for 2 years with the Raptors. That would put him at his 10 years of service when he can get his max - max - max deal.

I believe this is correct. Yup. Housley was not very good, it seems, but he did not have much to work with. The biggest problem with Housley, IMO, was he was trying to have a roster play a certain way that the skill set was not there for. He also seemed to not be willing to let Jack be Jack. We will never know what might have been if Housley had a better roster to work with. EDIT TO ADD: @Randall Flagg, what very well though out analysis. You should have been out on a Saturday night with dates and mates, but instead ...

Anyway, I think Kawhi wants a chance to prove that this Raptor championship was not a fluke and will sign a 1 + 1 deal with Toronto. It is unlikely that GS will make it back to the final next season. He wants a chance to show that anyone saying injuries played a big role, which it may have, but I still say the way the Raptors were playing in the final they beat a full strength GS team.

That is a distinct possibility. Defend the title with the same group of guys, who are mostly FA after this coming season, and then be in line for another max deal. He did miss out on a max deal in San Antonio when he was traded, so he may not want to miss this opportunity and be short something like 75 - 100 million $ over the two missed max deals. I really don't think he is motivated by the $, though.
