Sabre fandom: who, what, when, how and why?
Sabres Fan in NS replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
@That Aud Smell, 1979/80 probably was the best all round Sabre team ever. 2005/06 was a very close second. I have had this debate with myself many times. I always win the debate. -
Sabre fandom: who, what, when, how and why?

Became a fan at age 6 in 1970. Grew up in The Great Satan and had family in Buffalo. Always loved hockey and grew up watching the French Connection. Eleven. Do I have to really tell you why? Winning the wheel spin. Briere winning game 6 in OT. Still waiting for those to be topped. Brad Friggin' Park!! No goal. Bring in a real solid 2C. +++++ Most frustrating not on ice event ... the decision to tank ... I was going to play nice and I hope this does not derail the thread into that debate again. -
Edmonton is 3 hours behind the real east coast ... This has been a public service announcement brought to yous by that pain in the ass NS.

Cultural/Racial Bias and Discussion
Sabres Fan in NS replied to LTS's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
We did the same here and that's my point. They were basically put in cages and their real cultures were caged as well. -
TB will have to do something similar to last year to get out of their current cap issues. If we wait them out they will blink and someone will spring forward for pennies on the dollar. Patience is a virtue, or so I'm told. Let's see if Ky has it. If Dudley comes in they better cage him, as I don't think he is the patient type.

Cultural/Racial Bias and Discussion
Sabres Fan in NS replied to LTS's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
Really? We stole their land and murdered pretty much all of them. There is no authentic native culture to speak of in either country. -
You know, it's a holiday Monday in mid(ish) October where we eat and stuff, but all the shops are closed and north american football was never my scene and I don't like Star Wars.

Yes. It's my Thanksgiving.

Eddie Shack battling cancer... [UPDATED] Passed Away
Sabres Fan in NS replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Aud Club
Thanks Punch. You're the best and you wear nice hats too. -
To answer the OP question ... Yes. Samson can play 2C, but he won't be.

'75 was the most talented. They would have won the cup if not for Bernie. I do not believe that the '75 team was the 'best' iced. The 05/06 team was better balanced all round. 79/80 was more balanced and the last kick at it with the Connection intact. That said, different eras and different games, so it is hard to do a straight up comparison.

Eddie Shack battling cancer... [UPDATED] Passed Away

I saw this on the twitter, but it was a re-tweet by PH, so I did not want to cause a whole lot of nashing of teeth. Sad. Clear the track ... -
That team was stacked. Bad luck and injuries ended their season 1 series win early. I have very little doubt that the 05/06 Sabres would have beaten the Oilers in the final quite easily. It is hard to say if the 05/06 or the 79/80 Sabres were the best shot at winning a cup. In 06/07 the team was the same and also was stacked and ran through the regular season. Something was not right when the playoffs started and one could feel that it was not going to happen. This is a reasonable take and the only team close was the 79/80 team. Hard to say which was better. Very close. Both lost in dramatic fashion in the semi-final to the eventual cup winner. In 05/06 injuries finished them and in 79/80 they did not have their Butch, or Denis.

And he didn't fail either.

The proper term would be Islamic, I think, but even Islamic countries refer to themselves as Muslim countries. The quotes were mine for emphasis. Islamic countries are the ones that have a majority Muslim population and are in some way following Sharia, which is just their interpretation of Sharia. In other words ... they just make it up. The most Islamic counties in the world are not the Muslim countries. Turkey is pretty good and better remain a secular country that is majority Muslim. Good examples of real Islamic societies are the Scandinavian countries and to a certain extent Canada. We do not have a Muslim majority (yet), so we will never admit to it.

Not a lot unlike my own story. I grew up in Toronto and had family in Buffalo. Grew up loving and watching the Sabres. Moved to Halifax over 20 years ago and have not looked back. I have not returned to The Great Satan since my escape and I will not even if forced at gun point.

How could I miss the fantasticness of user name @msw2112 ... awesome!! Now I know for sure that 2112 will absolutely be the year of the Sabre. What a great year that will be. Is the orchestra ready ... it's Overture time!!

Why would the Sabres not be interested in bringing in a guy like Dudley? It is mind boggling.

Where are you in BC? Did not realize you were one of us. Welcome!! You hoser!! Funny you should say that about a Muslim country. That one woman is in UAE right now. Possibly the least "Muslim" (I don't think that is a real word) of all the so-called Muslim countries.
