The Swiss are through on penalties (5 - 4) in the first major upset of this Euro. They came back from 3 - 1 with goals in the 80th and 90th minutes.

Still 3 - 3 at the end of Extra Time. On to Penalties ... not my favourite way to end a match. I preferred having a sudden death 'golden goal' period of 10 minutes after extra time and then penalties.

It's just too simple for yous guys ... everyting in Metric is based on 10s. Same with temperature ... 0 is freezing, so 10 is cool ... 20 is nice and ... 30 is hot. The closest weather station to me is in Terrance Bay, or Shad Bay ... https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/weather/nova-scotia/terence-bay Both are saying it's 27 and feels like 35. There is no possible way that is the temperature and 'feels like' temperature on my back deck (about 25 yards from my wharf), or my wharf (which is about 2 feet from the wind swept and cold Atlantic waters). It is actually quite chilly here in the wind. A few kms away from the coast and it is probably 30+. In the city of Halifax today it's 35+ and in Bedford (where we used to live) it is 37+. Just checked and in Bedford it is 33 and 41 right now. You guys (BC interior) now hold the hottest temperature ever recorded in Canada.

What a match ... fantastic and exciting. Spain was up 3 - 1 (the 1 was an OG) as full-time approached. It's now 3 - 3 at 90+5. What a comeback by Croatia in the final 10 minutes ... scored at 85 and then at 90+2. End of regulation ... 3 - 3 going to extra time now.

They suspect it to reach 50+ there today. The coast of BC, like the coast of NS, never see that hotness. So far, we are spared, but just a few kms inland and it's game over.

I love the Scots. They speak my language, which is vaguely similar to English. It's much closer to Newfoundlandish. We have a rich Scots history here in Nova Scotia, which is Latin for New Scotland (bet you knew that) ... so much so that we have a very nice town named after your town ... bet you would never guess it's called New Glasgow. And I bet the taps are aff there today.

I hear you that it's the 'new normal' for very hot, but we are talking 50+ in BC during the day and over 30 at night. There is not time for the body to recover overnight if it is 30+. It will be 40+ in Montreal for the next week and intense thunder storms. We are up to 3 named storms in the Atlantic, with a fourth very likely in a few days. On the 5th in the Pacific. The season is just getting started.

Bump ... Stay cool and hydrated @dudacek and @bunomatic ... the intense heat in BC is horrific. You too @Thorny and @Ducky ... seems to be heading your way. Same to anyone else I am missing in western Canada and the US. Meanwhile ... I am comfortable in sweatpants, t-shirt and jean shirt on top today, at least so far ... we are supposed to get some heat and humidity in Halifax, but right on the Atlantic I have my doubts. It's foggy here this AM.
