They are perpetuating the myth that there is a huge tax difference between NY and FL. Not really the case. There is some difference, but not huge the way the players are paid, especially for road games. The CBA smooths it all out pretty much. We have had discussions about this over the years. Income tax is not a very valid reason for a player not to play in Buffalo. They are making a million bucks a year, or more, many a lot more, so boo hoo.

MacKinnon has 2 years left and I think he will sign an extension next summer. I know Nathan a bit and he is a regular and down to earth guy and I expect another very team friendly extension. 8 years at $7.5M, which may be his last contract.

Barkov and Marchand gave big home team discounts and MacKinnon is the best deal in the NHL from the team perspective. Huge bargains on all, but especially MacKinnon.

I don't think they will if he plays, but I can't see him playing at the start of the season. Not for the Sabres and it doesn't look like he will be traded soon enough for him to be ready for the start of the season. If he does not play, but is not traded, he will relinquish the 'C' voluntarily or otherwise. Baring unforseen situations I believe KO will wear the 'C' for the Sabres for this coming season and as long as he is a Sabre.

Just being realistic, eh. Hoping for sooner, but not really expecting it if he does this rebuild properly.

I don't think we should count his first year, or last year, as neither where really part of this restart, eh. So, I am starting to count this coming season as year 1. Therefore, I as looking for improvement (not standings) in this season, but standings improvement in the 22/23 season. Real improvement in the 23/24 and really starting to compete for playoffs in 24/25, when Rasmus will be getting into his prime years and Power will have 2 full seasons and Cozens is Captain and a legit 2+ C, as is Mitts, both alternating in the 1 C role. And the other kids have matured into a decent team that plays hard every night. 2026 will be our year, which is a lot better than my 2112 (😎) prediction.

2022/23 season. Maybe 2023/24.
