  1. Any particular reason why? Just because? A team Labour Day BBQ?
  2. I agree with all of this, but I think Ottawa will be ahead of us. Maybe not Detroit. I am not sure what either team had done this offseason. We will finish ahead of Arizona overall, of that I am certain.
  3. Is John home from Montreal? No matter really. Was the ice cream yummy?
  4. It is a farce and I want to boycott, but I am addicted to it.
  5. I just did that with @thewookie1 post in the ‘around the NHL’ post about the Coyotes possible trade. His embedded part was not showing. I went to another thread and when I went back it was there. Very odd.
  6. This is the Jays big chance to make their move. If they sweep and if the Rays do they will be in like Flynn, as they say.
  7. I am having the same problem on my iPhone tonight. ?????
  8. You could say that. And in that same vein ... GO RAYS!!
  9. Yeah, so do, but not many and not much. Last one that I recall is Messier and Lays chips.
  10. Bloody Hell!! Why are you tormenting us?????
  11. Yup. I heard that both took big salary / bonus pay cuts from their old clubs, which is expected since they are great still, but getting older. The endorement $ stays, so long as the agreements are in place. NFL players can and do make a lot from endorements. NHL ????? I really don't think it's really a thing.
  12. I agree. They spent what was a lot in the early 90s. With great results. Very few occasions since. Rogers has always said the $ will be available if / when the team is in a place where they are a playoff / WS contender. They are pretty much there now. Ray will be signed, IMO. And Vladdy will get a monster contract as will Bo.
  13. A good result for Canada yesterday. A draw away against the US. My beloved Bosna i Hercegovina are having a rough time so far. Their next match (home to Kazakhstan) is a pretty much must win.
  14. I tend to agree with Hank here. It's the only reasonable explanation that he will sign a reasonable deal before his QO is tendered. Hence a 'handshake' deal. It's the only way this thing makes sense. I think Montreal balked at the signing bonus ...
  15. I think that all sport have gone insane with the salaries. Seems like the deals that world footballers have signed are more reasonable, except of course for Messi (about 126M US$ including endoresments*), Ronaldo (about 117M US$ Including endorsements*) and Naymar (just under 100M US$). The next highest 7 range from 27M to 42M, which is in the Vlad range you mentioned. I realize that world football is a huge $ maker far outpacing the NFL on a worldwide basis. Seems like the NHL salaries are a bargain by comparison, but it's not a fair comparison. * those are the contracts with their previous clubs, so I am not sure what their new deals are worth with their new clubs. Another interestng thing is the clubs get compensated through a funky transfer fee system in the top European leagues. Paging @LastPommerFan to the other sports thread ... Come in LPF!! I really miss that guy.
  16. Where is the game? If it’s in Pittsburgh, then I am with @inkman. If it’s in Buffalo, then Bills by a gazillion.
  17. I tend to agree, but they signed Springer last year. I think they are really trying to get there. I am not sure how much longer they control Vlad, but I think it’s a few more years.
  18. Seems like you are having a damn phone moment here right at the start ... LOL!! I like it though.
  19. I believe they will, since it seems unlikely that the post season this year will happen. They did what they needed to do this weekend and swept the A's. The first two were really something a come from way back win and yesterday was an almost snatching defeat from the jaws of victory thing. Today with Mr. Ray on the hill was no sweat. Big time series against the damn Yankees starting tomorrow afternoon.
  20. Very impressive outing. 6 and 2/3 innings of 1 hit ... 10 SO ... 3 BB ... no runs. Very nice, indeed.
  21. Taking the over.
  22. 'All in' ..
  23. The link below says he will be UFA in 2026 (on June 30, 2026), which means 2 more seasons after this contract ends, no? This contract ends after the 2023/24 season then there is 2024/25 (RFA) and 2025/26 (RFA). I am sure this is the same as Joker, because both have had the exact same contracts signed at the same time. I don't know why I am wasting so much precious time on this ... LOL!! I could be dead by then. https://puckpedia.com/player/casey-mittelstadt I do believe that good ol' NS has been vindicated ... ha!!
  24. Yes. It's 7 years service, or 27 years old, whichever comes first. @Thorny and I had a little back and forth about what would have constituted both players first year of service. Both ate their first year of their ELC in the year they signed them (both were 20 years old), but neither counted as a year of service. Therefore, I believe that both will have 2 RFA years left at the end of these contracts. That said, I have seen this reported, but I can't find a 100% reliable sourse, like capfriendly or something to confirm. It all hinges on the first year of service not being the first year of their ELC, which I believe they were not.
  25. Both he and the Joker will have 2 years RFA after their new contracts end. I do think someone in the FO now knows more about this stuff than others and it's not KA 'cus he gave the last 1 year contract to Samson. That said, it's very possible by that time Samson said to late ... I ain't gonna sign here, except for 1 more year and only if I really have to. These are good contract that offer some flexability at the end of the 3 years. I still expect extensions of longer term will be signed at the end of year 2 for both, assuming all goes well, of course.
