Hey @Wyldnwoody44, When you make your way to Transylvania ... If you hitch a ride and a dude named Vlad stops ... don't get in the car. And if you see a sweet transvestite named Frankie hitch hiking you may not want to stop ... then again, you could do worse ...

Today (September 30th) has long been known as 'Orange Shirt Day' in Canada. It was started by a grass roots movement to recognize the extremely horrific history of Canada's treatment of our Indigenous People, especially the sending of children to their graves (more commonly known as Residential Schools run by the Catholic Church). Countless never made it home. Just a terrible part of our past. Some very recent past ... the last Residential School closed in 1998. It is the shame of our nation. This year the Federal Government made today a statutory holiday for all federal employees and federally regulated industries. Today is the first ... National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. I am proud to say that Nova Scotia is one of only three provinces to also recognize today as a provincial holiday. Most businesses are closed and there are many events planned. Today in Halifax there is a mi'kmaq (local Indigenous People) flag flying from the top of the MacDonald Bridge spanning the harbour that separates Halifax and Dartmouth. The bridge is named in honour of our first Prime Minister who was an avowed racist and caused grief for many that never elected him. He was also the initiator of the terrible Indian Act in 1867, which is still in effect today, although changed quite a bit. We all no the truth of what happened ... what we did. It is time for the reconciliation. That flag on that bridge is part of it. My typing this post is part of it (very small part), as it is in the forefront of my mind. I have done some reflection today and will continue to do that. There must be justice in order to have a final reconciliation, but we are starting. Another great step that is long overdue is to ensure that there is safe drinking water on all reserves. I think we also need to give our native people more of their land back. And not just parts we don't need, or use.

Zidane himself got quite a lot of it due to his heritage (his parents came to France from Algeria) and that he is a practicing Muslim. I agree on your second point, but it's not that much better in the US and Canada has a lot of issues with our Indigenous People.

What do you expect from: #24 Dylan Cozens?
Sabres Fan in NS replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
He will not be going to the AHL. He will be fine. He will be finer than fine. It's well understood that John is not a leader of men. He is not a team first guy by most accounts. Dylan seems to be both. -
What do you expect from: #22 Jack Quinn?
Sabres Fan in NS replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I really don't know what to think about Quinn. I think it will be between #1 and #2. I am hopeful, so went with #2. I think on this team with this roster that is not a farfetched notion. -
My roots are Austrian and Slovak (grandparents). I was born in The Great Satan (Toronto) and escaped to NS 23 years ago. My wife and I have spent much time in Bosnia and love it. One fine day we hope to retire (at least part time) there. We have many friends there. Being a Muslim in Bosnia means many different things to many different people there. Most are good people regardless of how they practice, or don't practice, their faith. We do not have many Bosnians here in NS, or in Atlantic Canada. Many end up in Ontario. The US has many Bosnians in several states. In case you are not aware and for clarity ... I am a reasonabe and reasonably practicing Muslim convert.

Thanks. And sorry PA for my rather offensive 'So?'. I get kind of worked up about this stuff.

Those dates must be taking the Olympic break into consideration, eh? I won't say what I want to say. This will ensure that this thread won't be derailed at post #2 ...

It's the worst in European football. It's not only racist behaviour many are anti everything. Mesut Ozil a German quit the National Team in 2018 due to racism of the German Football President. He was abused by fans so much that he requested his release from the English club Arsenal and now plays football in Istanbul. He is a white man. He was born in Germany and is of Turkish decent (his grandfather emigrated to Germany). He is a practicing Muslim.

They have had a great seaon and have not given up. Tied with the Jays 1 game back of the Sox. They have as good a chance as the Jays. Maybe better. The Jays were so far out of it until their big run that they get all the play in the media. And Toronto is, well Toronto. My feelings are well known on The Great Satan.

The more I think about it and the more I realize that I hate this garbage ... I'd ban him for life. Maybe, just maybe, he'd learn his lesson.

Forget the fine. He should not play again this season, which will give him time to reflect on this behaviour. If he does not improve his attitude suspend him for the next season.

I did not watch any of the game, but seems that they should have pulled the goalie a lot sooner, like maybe even in the second period, and they woulda won in regulation. If this was an on season game and not an off season game we would be all chearing that they snatched a win from the jaws of defeat. Stole 2 points as it were.

WRONG!! This is the most Charlie thing you have ever done here, Charlie. This is absolutely correct. Charlie knows this. He is the one that does these things. We need the off season and the on season threads separate, as tradition holds. So, now Charlie get back in there and unfix this right now. Okay?? And thank you for your service.
