I wonder what technique he prefers to play. Will he fit the 3-4 or is he a 4-3 penetrating noseguard?
-
I'm not picky. Can he plug the middle or rush through the center?
-
This game shows that again - we need to be able to find some guys who can get to the QB. Only consistent pressure has been from jailbreak blitzes.
-
True. Aren't the Bills like $25-30M under the cap? I just don't care anymore. Give it to Stevie or sign a FA no.1 (or do both) but something needs to be done.

That's the most reasoned response I've read about SJ following his mental relapse and stupid penalties. I've seen too many just scream "cut him, get rid of the bum" and there's no reasoning with them. I do think they need to re-sign him OR at the very least bring in a big free agent WR if they let SJ walk.

Awesome stats. 300 pages and 6000 replies? Damn we're a buncha sourpusses who like to whine.

Waking up sick this morning. Ugh.

This offseason features an interesting list of potential WR free agents. Haven't followed much to see how much this has changed, but here it is: http://www.footballsfuture.com/2012/fa/wr.html

This. The kicker shouldn't sleep well either. And another. This is what happens when you have to sign a kicker off the street in what, Week 8? :wallbash: I have no problem with the squib - the jets are leading the NFL in return yards - but I have problem with the execution. He :censored: up. He knows it. He seems contrite and took responsibility for the screwup. He'll learn from it. Let's not throw out the baby with the bath water - we are in short supply of good WRs on this team. It's actually 30 yards from the kickoff spot or where it goes out of bounds. Since it was KO from the 20 they would have gotten it at midfield. When a kickoff goes out of bounds between the goal lines without being touched by the receiving team, the ball belongs to the receivers 30 yards from the spot of the kick or at the out-of-bounds spot unless the ball went out-of-bounds the first time an onside kick was attempted. In this case, the kicking team is penalized five yards and the ball must be kicked again. http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/kickoff Same here. There are a lot of holes created by the previous regime and having to correct those mistakes. The only ones I don't like are switching back to the 3-4 and the hiring of Edwards as DC. I think another solid draft and maybe a FA pickup or two (at WR there are some names that may be free agents this year) and the Bills will be in much better contention next year.

Yep. But according the Sandusky and his scumbag attorney - every person who is accusing him of this stuff is a liar, copycat, wants his day in the media, wants money....

More allegations, this time from family members: http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7274012/penn-state-nittany-lions-scandal-one-new-allegations-jerry-sandusky-came-family-member-attorney-says And of course: A former Penn State assistant football coach accused of molesting boys for more than 15 years faces two new claims of child sexual abuse, including one from a family member, but both are unfounded, his lawyer told The Associated Press on Wednesday. Attorney Joseph Amendola said one claim against Jerry Sandusky stemmed from a Sandusky family dispute, and he characterized the other as an example of people trying to mimic other allegations.

Yup. Agreed.

Have to work tonight until closing (10) so I am not happy about having to start my "long weekend" late tonight.
-
Fixed it for you. I am almost certain that at this point the upper management keeps rolling him out "Weekend at Bernie's" style to keep their own jobs.

You make it sound like the OL suddenly just started to suck. I think it's less about "playing to their abilities" and more about the injuries and shuffling. We've been missing the LT, C, RT, RG, not to mention the backups at some positions (Hairston) have missed significant time. At some point you can't overcome that. You can't move a Guard to Tackle then to Center in a matter of three weeks and not expect some dropoff. You can't lose the guy who reads the defensive front and makes the calls (Wood) and expect them to not miss a beat when they plug in a G turned T turned C. I do agree about the the Bills being decimated by injuries every year, though. Terrence McGee spends more time on the IR and in the training room than he does on the field, for example.

Well-played, sir.
-
Defense, defense, defense. Specifically D-line and LB'ers - someone who can get some pass rush. Losman did play at the end. Fitz has developed happy feet and his timing is way off. Sometimes he feels the rush too early and just gets rid of it, sometimes he holds on too long and gets hit. Levitre was also out at the end of the game - I think they put Urbik in at center. The o-line depth is one area that pisses me off. They could have kept Hangartner knowing that they would need depth, and he can play C and both G positions. Cutting him was stupid.
-
I'm not absolving Fitz by any means, but this stretch of bad play has coincided with injuries forcing them to shuffle the OL. I am fine with Fitz as a placeholder until they establish a solid OL and some depth, and build the D up. Taking some hotshot rookie this fall would make little difference. If we do all we'll be doing is throwing another young QB to the wolves with no protection and making him learn from his backside or while running for his life.
-
All true. While part of me wants to say "enough with the injury talk" the reality is that they do not have the depth to handle the injuries they had. The move to release Hangartner was curious to me when it happened, and more curious now.
-
We spent a #9 pick on a RB - when we had Fred Jackson - for a player that is essentially an inconsistent kick returner.
-
Thoughts so far: the reshuffled (due to injury) o-line is not working. Levitre is struggling in the middle. Defense needs to figure out how to get to the QB. Not sure how much longer George Edwards can learn on the job as DC. I am starting to think that Gailey/Nix outsmarted themselves when they traded Evans and released Hangartner. They bought into a false sense of security, thinking that numbers = "depth". WR and O-line are really showing the error of that thinking.
-
I was dead-set against this earlier in the year, but I think now we don't have a choice.
-
Our WR "depth" takes another hit. Also becoming more and more obvious that Stevie Johnson is a solid, very good no.2 but I don't think he is a legit #1. Defense is HORRENDOUS. If someone can't find a way to get to quarterbacks and start knocking them down, the rest of the season is going to be much like today and last Sunday.
-
Unless Fitz morphs into the next coming of Brady/Manning/Unitas/Kelly this team is in big, big trouble. This Defense couldn't stop a Pop Warner offense.
-
It didn't help that they were laughing - publicly - about Tebow and the Broncos pop-gun offense, but overall the Jets D played pretty well against the Broncos. The decision to continue blitzing Tebow was curious, though - I would have made him pick you apart with his arm. The blitz makes it too easy for him to decide to tuck and run, his strength. The Jets' biggest problems were Mark Sanchez and the horrible offense.
