  1. Yeah, sounds about right. All those redneck tour guys have kind of morphed into one big comedy routine.
  2. Why? He broke a bone in his leg. He didn't tear up a knee or ankle.
  3. I think they do have some pieces in place, with Jackson, Johnson, Wood, Levitre, Dareus, Barnett at the core. (Probably more I would add but I am still shaking off the NyQuil brain.) I also think the "franchise QB" thing is overrated. Fitz is fine. He didn't start to struggle this year until the injuries started mounting on the OL, WRs started dropping, and then Freddie went down. FWIW, with regards to the Bengals...on this board we talk so much about a coach who has stayed employed for a long time and who probably could/should be fired...how is Marvin Lewis still employed after 8+ years? 61-71 record, exactly two winning seasons.
  4. Exactly. The genius of Ron White. I think Jeff Foxworthy did a bit on that where guys will say yes to seeing anyone's boobs. Like the old biker chick at the bar offers to flash you, you say yes, then you take a shot and tell her "ok, that's enough."
  5. That's fair. Fact is that the Bills have sucked more than they've been successful, so many have seen the Bills at their worst and never experienced their "up" years. The Sabres have been more consistent by far.
  6. Damn, I did miss it! I didn't bother to read his whole post there. I saw the "Good Day Sir" clip and just assumed the text was optional. The circle is complete.
  7. Did I miss where we went down the Nazi road? I love a good Hitler hijacking.
  8. I have watched his meltdown with curiosity; however this really offends me. Not because of some perceived generation gap, but simply referencing/giving credence to an all-too-unfunny movie/series like Meet the Parents/Fockers/whatever the hell the 3rd one was called.
  9. Nice. Using "Focker out" or any other not-so-clever Focker movie line/reference isn't helping your cause.
  10. I didn't go and didn't see it, since it was blacked out. I was working at Tops in Niagara Falls at the time, got home in time to listen to catch the mid-2nd Q on the radio, and refused to turn it off.
  11. Jeez, all I have to complain about is still being sick. Oh, and tomorrow is my last day before vacation - and I am booked in meetings pretty much all day, and even have to go in early to our downtown branch for one meeting where I was volunteered to chair a committee (made up of people who are higher-ranked than me) followed by our monthly department meeting/"pep talk"/veiled threats meeting. awesome.
  12. Ah, the return of the Sausage-Grabbing Mary's. I was wondering how long it would take before this photo resurfaced.
  13. The entire pro sports industry is based on entertainment. As much as we all profess to live and die with our teams, the reality is that it is entertainment, and a distraction from real life. In WNY that means a bad economy and bad weather 8 months out of the year. All that being said....your comment about the blind faith of Bills fans is the only thing that is ludicrous. Since you didn't really experience the great years in the late 80s through mid 90s, you really can't understand but for me, the Bills are something that unites the region, including displaced Buffalonians throughout the country. Growing up as a Bills fan is a shared struggle, something everyone suffers through with hope that the payoff will be there some day. Newsflash - most Bills fans have asked themselves if it is worth it. Living in Cleveland the last five years, I can assure you that I've heard the same thing from Browns fans about their team. Fans of every team that struggles for a long period of time ask themselves that. So you have two options: give up, get off the bandwagon (and stay the ###### off when they do turn it around - not you specifically but anyone who decides "I've had enough") or man up, suck it up, and suffer through while bitching and moaning on a message board and waiting for next year. It's what Bills fans do, and will do until they close the casket lid or the Bills move out of WNY. Just my two cents. I'll get off my soapbox now.
  14. Agreed. As it is the whole "###### ourselves out to Toronto" thing feels like letting your wife go out of town and sleep with another guy one a year while knowing that there is a real chance she might leave you for him.
  15. And yet there are those who think there is no difference between the Buffalo Bills and the Toronto Bills and cannot believe that people would stop following the team if it moved 90 miles north.
  16. Good question. I think it is less about not caring to win, but more about protecting his investment. I think he's bought the bill of goods he's sold the NFL - we're too small, we can't compete, we won't make any money.... saying it long enough he has started to believe it.
  17. So it makes the city look like morons for supporting their team in bad times and good? How does that make the city look like morons? Come on. That's an incredibly condescending comment. Should we expect Bills fans to be elitist bandwagon fans who only show up when the team is good? Good plan. That will hasten their exit to Toronto or LA. That'll show 'em! It is entertainment, pure and simple. I know in my heart that things are not going to get significantly better until Ralph passes. The Russian roulette factor there is that we have no idea what will happen to the team when he passes. So for now I am going to support the team, while it is ours and keep hoping against hope that I will be entertained, and for the most part this year, I have been.
  18. Nonsense. Not us, apparently. We've been shopping the waiver wire and free agency for OL for what, ten years now? Free safety depth, yes. OL? Not so much. Teams don't let good OL players - starters or depth - hit the market. EDIT: Good teams don't. Someone like Hangartner should have been kept, but it feels like a penny-wise, pound-foolish move there. I can't say I disagree with that philosophy either. I just don't want to see this team squander high picks on a skill position that isn't an immediate, glaring need like there are in other areas. (See Spiller, CJ) I agree overall, except I think we need to find a combination of two solid defensive front-7 players - DE's and/or OLBs - to improve the overall pass rush and talent of the front 7. That is going to help secondary tremendously. Then I agree - another WR, and more OL depth.
  19. Probably because I like Fitz. I think he is serviceable at worst and a good QB in the right situations. His struggles as the season has worn on have come as the injuries to the OL and skill positions have piled up. No one respects the running game with the OL in its current state, and no one respects CJ Spiller, and I think there is a lot to be desired out of the current set of WRs. The defense, on the other hand, has been a trainwreck all year long and is showing no signs of improvement. The DL needs a pair of good pass-rushers and the LBs need more talent. The secondary is hard to judge because we get little to no pass rush at all.
  20. There are so many issues with this team that I don't want them even THINKING about a QB in the next couple drafts. Defense, defense, defense, O-line, depth....
  21. THIS is the only acceptable van with a spoiler.
  22. If you get a chance read Jerry Sullivan's column on Wilson. He did a great job capturing Wilson and what he meant to the community, his coworkers, everyone.
  23. "Whose holiday is it, Tebow? It's MY day!"
