  1. Same here. I am surprised there hasn't been some sort of RFID tagging introduced in football. I don't know much about the technology, but I wonder if it could prove useful for goalline situations (did it cross the line or not) and maybe for field goals that pass over top of the uprights.
  2. With obvious exceptions I have never been one to wish for someone's death, but I don't see any way anything changes until he passes. It feels like he is holding this city/region hostage with the threat of "what's gonna happen to the franchise after I die" hanging over everyone's head and his refusal to address it.
  3. Unless the ball is thrown into the end zone, then you have to get feet down in bounds. But you're right, there are inconsistencies. I don't think it directly relates to the following 12 years, but it is symptomatic of the Bills franchise and it is all directly due to the owner, IMO. That is the common thread for every boneheaded mistake, dumb hire, poor free agent decision....it all comes back to Ralph and his "inner circle".
  4. My other question would be - what does the rule say, both now and then? Is it the feet or the position of the ball? I'll give you an example, albeit in college football from earlier this year. This year against Miami, Florida State was backed up deep in their own end, the QB was hit right around the 1-yard line and threw the ball away to avoid the sack. Because the ball was over the goal line when he threw it, the officials initially called a safety, but after lengthy reviews they determined that it was where his feet where that determined whether he was in the end zone or not. (Disclaimer: these were ACC refs, the worst in the nation, so they could have screwed up a free lunch.) I'm not interested in turning this into an argument, just wondering.
  5. I don't have to to "get over it" but thanks for weighing in. The debate about the legality of the play aside, the Bills not being ready for a trick play on the final kickoff was the reason DeHaven was fired (that and IIRC the special teams had declined that year). The next year was when Philips was fired.
  6. I saw all those clips when they first came out and they never convinced me, and after watching yet another computer animation I still am unconvinced that it was a lateral. Personally I think those are all produced by the NFL to reinforce the referees' call, but that's the tinfoil hat side of me.
  7. I don't know how. Even as Bills fan trying to be objective, I still don't see how it wasn't called a forward pass (aside from the game happening in TEN and the officials wanting to escape with their lives). It looks plain as day to me.
  8. Never was any doubt in my mind, from the first viewing to the last. Always knew it was a forward pass.
  9. Sallie Mae sucks. Their customer service department is less than helpful and they keep changing the website and every time it gets worse. I had a problem with them last year where we mistakenly scheduled a second payment for the same bill, because we couldn't remember if we did or not and at the time (no idea if it has changed) there was nowhere to see scheduled/pending payments.
  10. Work: We have our monthly company-wide meeting tomorrow. While I normally hate this, because it usually turns into "you guys are not doing a good enough job and the numbers better improve or else" bitch-fest, I have two complaints about this one: 1), it was moved up a week from the normal Friday it falls on - but they haven't communicated that with everyone, and 2) it pulls us out of our branches during our busiest and mot critical month of the year. We also did not get our normal budgetary goals - we usually get a new, termination, and net goal for each month, plus financials. We've only been given the financials and net, but that didn't stop them from sending out an email telling everyone that they are off pace for their new month-to-date pace. Also - we are short-staffed right now and in the process of hiring some part-time help. But with a new office opening in a few months, just a few miles down the road, our bosses want to regionalize some of the PT staff. Good idea in theory. But that means that for me to interview someone I have four other people who want to be in the interviews and decision-making process. Again, understandable. The problem comes in trying to coordinate four schedules to do one part-time applicant interview. It takes forever. Then they are asking me why it's taking so long to hire someone. Really?
  11. I've been fighting something similar for over a month. It's definitely in the last stages but the cough is still there and still annoying as hell. One of the volunteers at my work said the same thing. I just can't do it. I can see it working for a cough or congestion due to a cold but I don't see it for a viral bronchitis-type illness.
  12. I've wanted to like Cousins from Mich State but too inconsistent.
  13. True. From what I've seen this year, the top 2 are Luck/RG3, then Landry Jones (OK) is the no.3 prospect, but I wasn't overwhelmed by him.
  14. The question is - who, outside of Luck and RG3, do you consider a franchise QB in this year's draft?
  15. I forgot to comment on this earlier, but BS. The one where he mocked Plax for shooting himself in the leg is infinitely worse than the Lambeau Leap. They aren't even in the same category.
  16. It's like with your kids - you threaten them with something and they have to test you to see if you really do it. Double standard on celebration penalties aside - he got fined for his Why So Serious t-shirt thing. He knew the league would watch for something like that. He's had multiple conversations with Gailey about this stuff. At some point you run out of defenses for his stupidity.
  17. I think this is the first time Gailey benched him for it. I know they talked about this stuff in the past, but I don't recall Chan telling him to take a seat. Is this immaturity part of the reason he was available in the 7th round?
  18. Probably true. I can't wait to hear Gailey's and SJ's postgame comments.
  19. Same here. He could have caved, especially when Chandler went out, but he stuck to his guns and kept SJ on the bench. Maybe SJ will get it now.
  20. CJ Spiller just killed any chance of tying the game. How many balls are going to bounce off receiver's hands in spots where they should be caught?
  21. If there was EVER any debate about whether the league protects Brady and its stars, look no further than that BS call after the INT.
  22. Not trying to justify SJ's antics, but....how is pulling up the shirt worse than high-stepping into the end zone. They are both taunting, look-at-me acts, and I thought that was supposed to be the focus of the rule - to take out the self-promotional BS.
  23. I just don't get it. When they hell does he figure it out?
