  1. If you really can’t see the difference between what they did to tank for McDavid, and what they are doing now, may God have mercy on your soul. Of course a rebuilding team traded their best players for future assets. That’s the entire idea of rebuilding.
  2. I’d assume that the priority is “winning,” but understanding the youth movement will only garner a certain amount of wins.
  3. I get that, but there’s a difference between intentionally being bad, and just being bad. This is not a tank.
  4. For a season focused on rebuilding, who exactly would you want in goal, that would’ve reasonably came here?
  5. Not really. It feels like they want to see what Cozens, Mitts, Dahlin, Asplund, Samuelsson, Ruotsalainen, and others can do in expanded roles this season. UPL is an extension of this. Except maybe they realize G is a more important role, and wanted to insulate him with Craig. If 6K is completely not ready, they have Dell and Midnight Toker.
  6. It’s a reset with questionable goaltending.
  7. The Sabres aren’t going to be looking at more G options. They are set with what they wanted.
  8. What exactly makes him a “scumbag?”
  9. They didn’t add anyone notable, and explained why. They didn’t want anyone “blocking” ice time from the youngsters. This goes for G too. Many people are upset that there is no bonafide G this season, but Craig mentoring 6K makes sense under that “plan.” KA took his shot last season adding Hall, Staal, Eakin, and Sheahan to the core of Eichel, Samson, Risto, Montour, Olof, etc. and it didn’t work. So, now it’s start from scratch time.
  10. I don’t get the sense that this is the ultimate “plan” though. This is not the same as The Tank. The team will likely be bad, but it’s not going to be on purpose.
  11. Trading your backup QB for a 1st is an excellent move. Unless you are the Bills. Believe it or not, they are a SB contender this season. Somehow. If JA goes down in week 14, or the first game of the playoffs, Mitch is a nice luxury to have. Davis Webb or Jake From State Farm isn’t going to carry them.
  12. Rob Ray is a SAINT! And a local treasure! Don’t you dare!
  13. There are a lot of people on this board, who missed the transition of what a Captain is over the years. In the past, the Captain was the team leader, whom had specific traits. In the modern NHL, the team Captain is the highest paid player/biggest star/biggest future star. I am not saying that I agree with it, but that’s what it has become.
  14. I’m still of the opinion that Cooperstown is meant for your accomplishments on the field, not who you were off of it. Im sure there are players from 1880-1970 who weren’t good people off the diamond, that are in Cooperstown.
  15. So, would you rather be at his last game in person where you can’t hear him calling the game, or at home watching and hearing everything?
  16. I agree with this.
  17. I have very fond memories of meeting both Dunn and Van Boxmeer with the Amerks when I was a kid. Even fonder memories of the hip checks Hoffard would throw. He runs the Greece Mall now. I believe he scored the winning goal in the infamous Bears-Amerks brawl game in Buffalo where 9 players were ejected after warmups. I was at the game as a kid, and it was insane. April 17, 1987 BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A brawl before an American Hockey League game that left a Rochester Americans player injured and nine players ejected from the match prompted calls Friday for a police investigation of sports violence. Councilman Vincent LoVallo termed the April 11 incident at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium a 'savage attack with skates and sticks' and, in a letter to Buffalo Police, asked whether local law enforcement officials are authorized to probe the fight. 'I'm not looking to take fighting out of the sport. I don't think you can, and that's not my role,' LoVallo told The Buffalo News. 'But it wasn't a fight, it was the use of weapons to maim a human being. They were kicking and spearing.' The brawl happened when Andy Ristau of Rochester and Jeff Brubaker of the Hershey Bears exchanged words during the warmup for the second game of a best-of-seven league semifinal playoff series. A videotape of the fight shows the two tumbled on the ice while slugging it out and two other Hershey players, Kevin Maxwell and Greg Smyth, attacked Ristau with their sticks while he attempted to shield himself. Brubaker continued punching Ristau while the two other Bears speared him. Ristau was also kicked and appeared to go into convulsions during the attack. Other Hershey players stopped Ristau's teammates from rescuing him, and several other fights broke out as a result. Brubaker and Maxwell were suspended by the AHL for two games. Smyth was suspended for the remainder of the seven-game playoff series, the first two games of which were played in Buffalo because of a previously scheduled circus at the Rochester War Memorial. Rochester won the first two games and took a 3-1 series lead into Game 5 in Rochester Friday night. Ristau, who was suspended for one game, was hospitalized for a concussion and bruises on his spine. After spending several days at home, the right winger began practicing with the team Friday, but was not expected to play against Hershey again in the semifinals. Both Ristau and league president Jack Butterfield said they consider the fight a closed issue.
  18. Maybe RJ has been the curse all this time.
  19. Nice to see Power will be skating for the blue & gold this season.
  20. None. Unless he wants to be a receivers coach.
  21. I’m usually last row in 106, when possible.
  22. I tried out Crotch Itch. Butt Scratch was much better.
