  1. This would be fun. We could all argue on zoom instead of on here! I am in if @john wawrow is in.
  2. That’s the inherent problem here. If he IS available, other teams can probably offer better than Mitts, 1st, Ryan Johnson (I honestly don’t even know who he is or heard much about him). STL really paid out their butt to get ROR, so what do we need to give up for Rocco?
  3. It’ll be interesting to see which NHL players opt out. The new agreement guarantees players who opt out will still get their playoff bonuses, correct?
  4. I’d have to think with only 7.8 mil to play with, only 15 current contracts and only 3 D-men for next season, they’d be looking to sign both Cernak and Sergachev and trade Cirelli, or only keep one of Cernak or Sergachev and move one and also Cirelli. If anything, maybe they’d be asking for Mitts, Joki, and a 1st.
  5. I agree that Risto has a fair contract. My point was that TBL isn’t in a position to take on a contract like his - they’re going to need to shed money, not take more on.
  6. Id have to think if TBL was going to consider a trade, a Risto contract isn’t something they’d want to take on. They’d want prospects, picks, cheap players.
  7. The Lightning only have $7.8 million in cap space as it stands for next season. With only 15 players under contract for next season, and only three of them being defencemen, the Lightning have some work to do. They will need players on entry-level deals to step up. However, that does not solve the issues they will have signing key free agents in Sergachev, Cirelli, and Cernak. I’m not sure how they’re gonna make it all work, it’ll be interesting to see. I also don’t think they’d view trading Cirelli to Buffalo as a problem - they traded Drouin to Montreal, and TBL probably doesn’t view the Sabres as any immediate threat to their dominance. The presence of Cozens on the Buffalo roster shouldn’t be an issue either - having “too many” good centers is a good problem to have. My main curiosity is what we would have to give up, as it’s been pointed out that we do have a lack of depth as it is.
  8. For a comparison: Cirelli - .56 PPG first 3 seasons (.65 this season) ROR - .45 PPG first 3 seasons (.57 at the time we obtained him) Aside from whether or not he is realistically obtainable, it boils down to whoever is in charge of these decisions choosing whether a Selke-contending building block for the future like a Cirelli is a better option than a “cheaper alternative” (such as a Haula) for 2 years while we hope someone else develops into the 2C role. Also, I hope those brilliant minds in charge are aware of the frustrations of the fanbase, and realize if they want people at the rink buying overpriced La Nova pizza slice and/or seeing La Nova logos behind the net on TV, a player like a Cirelli is going to help the hope tank more than a player like a Haula.
  9. I have a hunch that this tidbit doesn’t matter. It would appear from that TBL Return To Play video, that he lives in Tampa during the off-season working as a waiter at a restaurant, and rides jet skis with jeans on.
  10. 1. Can we realistically obtain him? 2. What will he cost to obtain?
  11. Made my daughter a Bacon BBQ Cheddar Burger, a white hot, brown sugar baked beans, deviled mac salad, and potato skins. Brought her great grandpa the same items. Didn’t even have to use my AK. It was a good day.
  12. Exactly. Just say it’s Rick Dudley, president of Rick Dudley operations.
  13. Bondra was another favorite of mine. Gave me one of his sticks after a Sabres game when I was a kid. Would’ve won the Rocket Richard in 97-98, but the award didn’t exist until 98-99. 500 goal scorer.
  14. If Warrener had been covering Straka on the GWG... Not sure to this day why he went into the corner by himself leaving Straka all alone in front.
  15. I’m still shocked to this day that the Kasparaitis puck toss doesn’t hold a bigger place in our lores of misery.
  16. Oh well. It’s a 4th line. Everyone on it should be easily replaceable. If only we didn’t have someone making $6 million on it.
  17. I watch a lot of Amerks games. No, he doesn’t have it. Just my opinion based on what I’ve seen.
  18. Figured this could be fun during this down time. 1. Jari Kurri 2. Cam Neely 3. Bob Probert 4. Kevin Stevens 5. Alex Ovechkin Honorable mentions - Sakic, Datsyuk, Hextall
  19. I thought Snyder has always been adamant about “NEVER” changing the name.
  20. Yeah, it’s pretty hard to beat that Jagr mullet.
  21. Idk. Batters seem to torch a slow pitch being tossed in a home run derby just about the same as a hanging fastball in a game. Also, my speculation is that the shot speed is going to be the same whether the puck is coming straight at a stick, or from the side, if point of release is identical - the flex/torque would still be originating from the same point. If Al Iafrate can shoot a motionless puck 104mph, I don’t think that speed is increasing with a moving puck coming at his stick. I could be wrong, just making guesses.
  22. What about a playoff team that traded a player two years ago, and got a first rounder in return, and ends up sitting in one of the top draft slots?
  23. I’d have to surmise the speed of the shot would not be negatively affected - maybe even the opposite. It’s not far off from a pitchers fastball flying off a baseball bat into the opposite direction. Would a baseball travel further if the ball was coming from the side of the batter?
  24. Sports aren’t done. You think Jimmy and Joes Restaurant is gonna open up down the street from you for business, and major sports aren’t going to?
