I think it was just a solid hockey trade. STL wanted a top 6 center. We got two experienced players whom can guide our younger core. Got one of their better young guys and two high draft picks. I also see Berglund and Sobotka as two players who make our kids fight for a roster spot.

Yeah I doubt they would ever trade him within the division. Was even publicly stated that Hoffman/Karlsson can be traded but out of the division only.

STL 1st / SJS 1ST Samson and Guhle. I think they want a Center coming back more than D, With Duchene probably bolting as well. If they want to get rid of Ryan they have to take Bogo.

I thought it was one of the weakest games in the wc, but the referee had a lot to do with it to.

Maybe Jbot is looking a bit further with regards to center depth than we are. Eichel - Mittelstadt as our top 6 centers, But PU came close to having a 9 game tryout last year, and we have a lot of good young centers in the pipeline. Trading O'Reilly really is a Luxury we could afford.

This trade is still sinking in and seems underwhelming. When the season ended Jbot said he wanted to improve even strenght scoring. O'Reilly got most of his points on the PP. The picks we got are good, Thompson I barely know anything about. I do think Samson will go back to Center and I like it tbh, his line had good offensive possesion stats last year, but he had no finishers :(
