This is a young league. Several of the Canadiens vets are hurt and they are playing better! So all those draft picks we have are really good if this youth movement, situation continues.

Not guaranteed, Pasternac and Guensel (Yes, spelling of names is way off) were late first round picks. Getting more picks increases our chances of hitting on a pick that is really good.

He knows this, and will surely feel he can get a great contract on open market. I can see us offering him a lot. He is a superstar, according to that stat. Yet, look at the Canes this year. They lose Skinner and score more goals than us, are slightly better than us and have not died when he left. I just hate losing an asset and not getting anything in return.

I would hope it's more than that

I'd rather get something than nothing, and any pick could turn into a gem later. I mean sure, if we look like we could make the BIG run now, but I doubt that.

It would be tough, but tough decisions need to be made. I'd trade him. No evidence at all, but I bet they are. You think everyone just plays by the rules?

I want to sign him as much as anyone, but no way in hell I let that deadline go by with him unsigned and not trade him. I don't care how good things are going. Jbot will have to be tough and trade him.

And Skinner is on pace for 40+ which would be career high.

I think its a no brainer, we offer him as much as we think someone else will and hope he likes being here. But its all up to him. Maybe he wants to be in NY OR LA. Really hope we keep him but I hope he is traded if we can't sign him. Letting an asset go for nothing is just stupid.

So if he wants a seven year deal, I say no way. The last two games we played it seemed like they were old teams that could not keep up with our young legs.

They were just dangerous every time on the ice together. Sort of reminded me of LaFontain-Mogilney

I think he is great. Would love to sign him, but you know the Rangers are having back channel conversations offering him heaven and earth. This kind of sucks. If he won't sign, you have to take what you can get from a contender and move on.
