I was just interested and looked up Paul Kariya's production in his 30's and it was still pretty good, so maybe Skinner is in the same mold as him.

And that's a big problem I have of throwing away 8 or 9 million a year for three years in the future. I only go as high as a six year deal myself. He will be 34-35 then? Highly doubt he is still the Skinner we are seeing now at 34

Just to play devil's advocate, or whatever: How many more years do we expect Skinner to be a top player? Is it reasonable to expect five more years? If so, then we pay, even at that expectations, for three years of dead weight. Suppose we pass on Skinner, and spend the money somewhere else? If Jack can make players around him so much better, wouldn't a shorter, less expensive player be a better options, with the young talent to fill out the roster. A very good right winger at trade deadline to play with Jack and Jeff. Move Sam to play with Tage and Casey and have two really good lines for playoffs.

Had a great time at the game. We had no idea RJ was taken out. He was throwing out stuff to fans earlier and that made us laugh at the time. Sabres team defense is just getting so solid. Larry just looks like a killer out there, no wonder other teams hate him. I loved how Phil gave the second team pp the first crack that one time and then the first team got it together and scored. It was a big big happy crowd, I'll tell ya. Everyone was rocking when they scored. They tried getting the wave going a few times but it was a no go. But all the people around me were jabbering about Skinners contract, Berglunds situation and the Canadian health care system, of all things, lol.
