Looks like Penguins will be without Rust, Crosby and Golchinick are game time decisions, so we might get lucky opening night in that regard

I went to the opening game in 1991 against Mario's Pittsburg Pens and I was telling my friend that the Sabres were the best team in the Adams division. We lost that game and didn't have a great season. I felt dumb, lol. Can't help think about that with Pens coming up tomorrow. Guess I'm afraid of being optimistic but I have to admit the game this weekend gave me hope. I'm trying to be hopeful and like what I see so far. Go Sabres!

I didn't think he was that bad, but with the injuries, Joki not really showing much and him having some experience I was a little surprised but really, nothing done today was really that big a deal. We got our team, this was all just nibbling around the edges. Time for regular season to begin.

Just my impression. Pitt played their stars (who got frustrated) and we really didn't. I expected them to blow us out but we won. Had Jack played I might not have thought the game was worth considering as a sign of improvement. But our B line guys looked like a team, that's our foundation. Now if the stars get their butt kicked on Thursday I say, never mind....

My guess, Lazar is the guy who sits in the press box, practices with the team and plays if injuries permit. Like Hunwick last year, he is a veterans that hangs around. Always good to have a guy around that works hard and will do anything to stay in the league.

This was probably the best pre-season game I've ever watched. If they come out in regular season and show this level of togetherness, hard work and smart hockey, this game will have been a sign of things to come. I hope it was not just a blip
