GDT:Sabres at Pittsburgh 2/22/20 1PM MSG, WGR

I don’t like the Penguins. I like beating the Bruins first, then Toronto and next it’s Pittsburgh. Lets go Sabres! -
He either really sees something wrong or just hates Skinner
-
Oh yes, agreed. Jack is just better this year, Olie or no Olie, still, them two have chemistry
-
By my quick math, Jack has averaged 1.3 ppg this year, and only 1.06 ppg last year. That's significant.
-
.19 is basically 1/5 of a point a game, or an extra 1 point every five game, or over the course of a season 16 points just at even strength. That's not a lot?
-
I don't think that they "ease up." I think that deep in the human psyche the motivation can be intense if you are chasing a sacred goal and the let down, not intentional in Skinner's case, can be steep after you reach that goal. $70,000,000 is a lot of motivation. Does it outweigh the desire to be the greatest and win the cup? In some yes and in some no. Jack Eichel seems driven by a desire for greatness. But maybe he meets a beautiful women, falls deeply in love and only cares about her and their kids, his hockey suffers for it. That's just human, too. Playing at a top level means thinking about the game a lot, and working on perfection. Life changes things so maybe a player just doesn't focus as much anymore on the little things. Skinner, I would argue, lost some motivation after reaching his dream goal.
-
Probably the later. But is Skinner worse this year because he is not with Jack, or because he cashed in on his contract year? I’d also say the later.
-
But isn’t Jack doing WAY better without Skinner?
-
Question: Hasn’t Olofssons 5-5 number improved as the season has gone on? He had zero 5-5 goals first part of season
-
No way, at this point, Olofsson doesn’t play with Jack, no one has more chemistry with him. Maybe, I could see Jeff and Sam play together.
-
Just compare the efforts of Skinner to Sheary. Sheary isn't nearly as talented but gets out there and grinds. Just like Skinner did last year. Contract year efforts.
-
He only has one less point than St. Skinner now, and isn’t a -16, like Skinner. Maybe Skinner being -16, worst on the team, is the reason he isn’t with Jack. I’ll admit, I’m still miffed by that contract, I feel we got really hosed.
-
I bet Connor Sheary would do a lot better with Jack, too. So what?
-
But the world literally would have ended if we didn’t completely agree to his every demand and hand over a huge chunk of our salary cap to him. Sometimes, heck many times, leaders have to make unpopular decisions that are for the better long term. JBott was so boxed in by the ROR trade he felt he had to throw good many after bad, i guess. What did Carolina get out of the Skinner trade? I know Pu, but did their cap space savings allow them to sign someone else? (Asking anyone) *Good for Marty speaking out
-
So we absolutely need to sign a free agent goalie. Short term...
-
Probably already been posted, but with the goalie situation as it is, nice to know there is something in the pipeline https://ontariohockeyleague.com/article/wolves-ukko-pekka-luukkonen-voted-red-tilson-trophy-winner-as-ohls-most-outstanding-player-of-the-year
-
Oh good. That makes me feel a little better. I was actually thinking we should make a play for Brandon Holtby but that sounds expensive
-
How is goaltending better in the pipeline? Just asking because I have no idea, not trying to be critical or argumentative.

Taylor Leier Signed to One Year NHL Deal by Sabres
bob_sauve28 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Yup, and ya know, stacking up on those lower round picks could mean we find more diamonds, especially a goalie. Wasn't Hasek a late round pick? Not saying its a sure thing, but spreading a wide net sure helps -
Rob Ray tearing up Mel Gibson, lol
-
2goals 1 assists and a save A Brandon Montour Hattrick
-
GLO Line gets it done
-
I love watching them operate the PP, so good!
