  1. Trade Jack for a player at the most important position? They’d have to toss a little more in, though and the goalie would have to be signed for awhile, good and want to play here.
  2. Just heard a rumor on Instigators. So I’ll pass it along and add my own totally speculative thoughts. A ‘NHL source’ said that Boston was calling KA every two weeks about Jack. That sounds unrealistic. I’d swap them Jack for Charlie MacAvoy and a goalie but doubt that happens. I recall that KA was trying to get a goalie out of Boston when he traded Hall, but Boston would not budge. Which is curious, if Boston liked their young goalies so much why sign Linus? With Rask that gives them four NHL goalies. Did they do that to screw with us and make us want to make a deal for Jack? Sounds too crazy to be true.
  3. Yes, something has to give. I really think holding him, gettin* him in the lineup and showcasing him adds to his value. But there is risk there too. He can decline a trade next year, right? I wouldn’t be surprised if he just plays the next five years here. This situation is so messed up
  4. All true but, the emergence of the ATM line helps replace some of that, as does the addition of R2 and Borque, Girgs is coming back and they seemed to have covered for Risto leaving, but we will see on that front. Plus there is Jack. He might play for us still or landus something valuable to line up. If we we can get this goalie situation fixed the team has a chance to be good, IMO.
  5. And do you want him back? Will he be the captain? And if he is here, does your opinion of this being a tank year change?
  6. Ullmark with Kruger was not good enough. They sure looked good under Granato even with really, awful goaltending. They beat NY, Pitt Wash with sixth string goalies.
  7. It would have to be in the Jack Eichel Trade or finding another cast off after camp.
  8. Worst roster? The roster isn’t bad at all. I think your opinion will be majority opinion soon. The goaltending is terrible but the rest of the team is good, not great, But when the losing starts everyone will blame the skaters, the coach, Dahlin, whatever. Having bad goaltending is like having a terrible quarterback in football, but people don’t look at it that way because QBs are flashy and make all sorts of big plays, while a good goaltender makes the saves he suppose to (boring) and a few spectacular saves.
  9. At this point, I’d take straight up for a decent goalie. (Sort of kidding)
  10. Remember Nathan Peterman? That's what this situation reminds me of
  11. Nice article, he sounds really upbeat and positive http://www.buffalohockeybeat.com/mark-pysyk-excited-for-chance-to-play-defense-optimistic-about-sabres-future/
  12. Not sure there is a trade to be had. There is a goalie shortage and we are like the team in musical chairs that got caught standing when the music stopped. Unless there is a goalie in the Eichel Trade (if that ever happens) not sure we get one that way.
  13. So has the Sabres goaltending situation. Coincidence?
  14. My understanding is that UPL was not very good in Rochester, is that right? Or was he just recovering from an injury and that hurt him? He is one hope for the season not being lost yet.
  15. This situation is really depressing. Good young team with no real goaltending. Maybe the Eichel deal-if it ever happens— snags us a real goaltender. Maybe in training camp something shakes lose on another team and we get a decent goaltender. But right now we are looking at another disaster season coming.
  16. I think the team is fine. They have forwards that can score, the defense is a work in progress but with talent. But, the goaltending will make this all a moot point. They can play great and the goalie gives up a softy or two and they loose but fans will blame the coach, Dahlin, VO will be too soft, and all that. Holding out hope that a goaltender who can play is part of any Eichel deal.
