I'm nearly caught up on Veep. Hilarious show, and incredibly well written.

Oh man that was such a great final scene. I still cried over Jimmy's ruse. Despite the fact that he was scamming, what he was saying was still coming from the truth. Some part of Jimmy is too proud to admit how much everything IS hard. He needs to buy drinks for Kim and pay for the food. He really does love his brother, and deep down it hurts Jimmy to hate Chuck. But the wounds are still so fresh and Jimmy can't let it go. In a bizzare way, this is therapy for Jimmy. He gets to let out these complicated emotions in bouts of simplistic hatred toward his brother. Jimmy is too hardened to show this to Kim. It's a quiet kind of tragedy, how Jimmy can only get this relief while being a duplicitous bastard.

Hahaha Sansa was like "sry Jon I should've told you about the knights of the Vale." And he was like ah well what're you gonna do? The battle of the bastards in general didn't really have lotsa sensemake. I was constantly just like, "why is this happening? Oh, they're just gonna Helms Deep it?" I'm glad they started killing mass amounts of named characters. Seasons 5 and 6 were full of a lot of really bad decisions over how to spend screen time. Faith militant/Tyrell story line not going well? IT'S GONE NOW. It felt weird to see Walder Frey get killed. Years ago that's all I ever wanted. The way it happened didn't really give me any satisfaction of Red Wedding Revenge. Liam Cunningham as Davos is probably my favorite part of the show. What a sweetie.

They don't really have a weakness on paper. I think Backstrom is the true gem and trading Ovi would be the chemistry shake-up that they need, not to mention the return would be pretty dang good.

I doubt they want to weaken their D. If I was the Caps I'd be trying to trade Ovi.

I like Orlov a lot more than Schmidt. From what I remember, Orlov was the best Caps D-man at holding the puck and creating offense in the playoffs. Just checked, Orlov was outscored by Schmidt, Niskanen, Shattenkirk, and Carlson in the playoffs, but they were all pretty close. I just remember a Caps defense that rushed plays and forced the point shot instead of working to get more dangerous chances. Orlov stood out to me as the D-man that consistently made good decisions in the O-zone.

I liked the new Alien movie. It flirted with some neat sci-fi ideas, but didn't REALLY engage with them. The movie needed even more Fassbender, despite the fact that he already played two characters. The aliens were kind of an afterthought, though. I got the impression that Ridley Scott needed to make this an Alien movie to get the (HUGE) funding, but perhaps wanted to make a different movie about AIs, which is what I would've liked to watch.

The brutality is so unnecessary. I wish playoff hockey was a sport and not a war. Guys playing through broken bones and concussions is the norm, and that's messed up. Hockey will still be hockey without the needless violence.
