    Unrealistic funny idea to further stick it to Bettman and the NHL... Vancouver appears to be rebuilding. Surely they'd like to move the Sedins? 7mil each for 3 more years. Buffalo trades fodder and a couple 2nd round picks for the Sedins and Vancouver 2015 1st. Then does a regular buyout on the Sedin twins. Hilarious to think about. Very unrealistic though and unlikey Canucks trade that pick. Vinny L + Flyers 2015 1st for Stafford + Sabres 2015 2nd seems like a fairly realistic deal however.....if Vinny can be convinced to come here. my targets would be Moulson, Ott, Brian Boyle and Brooks Orpik. I'd love Iginla but that's nearly impossible. Stastny and Niskanen would be intriguing but not sure either wants to sign here. Also not sure what I'm willing to pay either. Moulson 5 years 24 million Brian Boyle 4 years 15 million Ott 3 years 12 million Orpik 2 years 6 million Moulson and Orpik would be most likely to sign here IMO I could also see Pittsburgh trading Letang to Buffalo as he's got 7.25 per for a number of years yet. It would have to include the Penguins 2015 1st. That pick could be around 16th - 18th this season.Their new GM is suspect and I don't think that team has the depth to get past the 1st round if they meet the wrong team. If Murray plays his cards right, Buffalo will have at least 4 2015 1sts by the time the trade deadline passes....if not 5. And in a very strong draft those are so valuable. Buffalo comes home with a minimum of McDavid / Eichel + another high end forward whether he's drafted or it's an NHLer Even if Kane were to re-sign in Chicago, 3 1sts would be a tough offer for the Hawks to pass up. If we desired to go that route.

    Buffalo currently has 8 prospects that TSN had ranked in the top 75 for the 2013 draft class. 8!!! Now that is how you rebuild a hockey team! Ristolainen Zadorov Compher Bailey Hurley Carrier (via Blues trade) Fasching Baptiste Both Defensemen should be solid for a long time and I would think there's a fair chance 2 of the forwards above can be top 6 players in the future.

    I'd be happy with that. While we are at it though...Brown has struggled this year and his long term contract kicks in next season. They may want to move him. If not now, I could see it at the draft. Moulson + Ehrhoff + 2nd (LA 2014) for Toffoli + Brown What do you think?

    Hoff's contract makes him pretty attractive to other GM's for a playoff run and down the road. I'll bet he's traded by Wednesday Hopefully the return is significant.....1st + top prospect + young roster player. 1st + Gibson +Vatenen from the Ducks 1st + Faksa + Olesiak from the Stars High price to pay but recapture penalty taken into account..... We could always add a player or pick to get that kind of return.

    Erat has negative value, taking him from WSH is a favor to them. Like Kotalik in the Regehr trade. Stafford is very erratic but a change of scenery could see him hit 25 goals yearly. He has played well lately and McPhee thought he had him at the deadline last year. Edit: I changed who I had Stafford going to anyways. lol One trade I wouldn't mind seeing would be acquiring Evander Kane. Something like Ehrhoff, Grigorenko, Armia / Hodgson, Ehrhoff, Armia Myers, Ennis, Grigorenko for Kane, Byfuglien E. Kane is Iginla 2.0 if coached up.

    TRADE IDEAS: McPhee wants to make moves with his job on the line. His first priority is moving Erat while improving his club to try and make the playoffs. After today's game the Caps still need goalie help and I think Halak has played excellent against them in the past. To WSH: Halak , Adam To BUF: Erat, 1st Round Pick (Sabres choose '14 or '15) Probably slight overpayment from WSH but McPhee did trade P. Forsberg for Erat Montreal is looking to get bigger on the wing To MTL: Stafford To BUF: 3rd Round Pick 2014, Conditional 2nd Round Pick 2015 that can become a 1st if Stafford scores 30 goals. Reported that Ottawa likes Stewart. Tried to get him from Blues. To OTT: Chris Stewart To BUF: Mike Hoffman, Shane Prince, lower level prospect of T.Murray's choice Ducks are looking for help on D. Sabres need high end goalie prospect. To ANA: Christian Ehrhoff, To BUF: 1st 2014(Ottawa Ryan trade), John Gibson Overpayment by Ducks because of possible recapture penalty to Sabres Oilers need a franchise player on the back end. Sabres need one up front. To EDM: Tyler Myers, 2015 2nd To BUF: Jordan Eberle, Ladislav Smid, 2015 1st Just putting these out there for fun. Maybe a bit slated toward our side but overall not too far from correct value IMO.

    Besides the possibility of giving Callahan 7 years 50 million this Summer, how about this: Sign Jaromir Jagr to a 1 year 5-10 million deal depending on how much is needed to at least make the cap fllor. The reasons being the following.... Craig Patrick who is now in our front office drafted Jagr as GM of the Pens. Jagr has 700 goals and would help sell tickets during the rebuild. His off ice work ethic would be a great example for the kids on this team. If he continues playing at a high level, he can be moved yet again at the deadline for assets. He has 50 pts in 60 games this season.

    I'd think we will see Stewart sent to Ottawa. Murray claims he doesn't want rentals so Moulson seems unlikely to be packaged in that deal. More likely LA or PITT for Moulson IMO.     One of my co-workers also works for the Sabres....he was told at the game last night by another Sabres employee that there will be a Press Conference today. Supposedly Miller related. Quite a few people were talking about this...... Can anyone confirm this? Chz? can't find even a whisper about it anywhere online
