The free agent center, who was bought out by the Philadelphia Flyers, tells The Buffalo News he's had contract chats with Buffalo. "We are talking to about eight teams," Briere said in a text. "Sabres one of them." The 35-year-old had six goals and 16 points in 34 games last season. He was set to have a salary cap hit of $6.5 million for the next two seasons, but the Flyers used a compliance buyout and made him a free agent. The former Buffalo co-captain helped lead the Sabres to the Eastern Conference finals in 2005-06 and '06-07.

I just think it's ridiculous how much time fans spend bashing their own team when the going gets tough. Just turn on WGR post game shows after the Sabres lose a game or EVEN after a victory if they had one bad period. I don't understand it. For example, booing your own goalie at home just because he has a rough stretch of play? How about sarcastically cheering him when he makes a save on a dump in? What is that? Is that being "tough"? "Mentally strong"?? No. It's a group of ignorant fans being classless. And I see a lot of that on here directed toward the Sabres. Frankly I am disgusted by it. This fan base seems to have quite a few emotionally unstable, immature people who are just WAITING to find faults with the players and get some sort of satisfaction from it.
