I was literally just about to ask exactly this. I think Sammy is 100% wrong and feels he needs to slap down his critics with his feelings of superiority to everyone who works their "little jobs".

It's OK, I hate Yankees fans too. They're insufferable! And 90% of em don't know ! One of my best friends is a Mets fan, and he is beyond excited for this series. It'd be nice for his team to win something, as he's also a Jet fan and an Islanders fan (he's young, the Isles have been irrelevant his entire life). Trouble is, this friend is one of the best smack talkers I've ever heard. I already have to deal with it 2 weeks out of the year in football season. I can't take nonstop jibber jabber until April.
