So you agree I don't think anyone thinks the team as is is good enough. That's why I said , they are close but still need to add a significant piece in a RHD

Uggghhhh Rossi misses a wide open cage with about 20 seconds left. wild lose to the redwings. Wings remain 13 ahead of the Sabres with both teams Winning tonight -

Another win. now looking at 19-7 to have a shot at the playoffs .730 winning percentage still seems unlikely but you never know. Certainly playing as well as I can remember, going back a few years at least -

I love being invested in the game .... My cat , not so thrilled as his nap was interrupted by my celebration -

This is it. Do or die time for the Sabres. 20 mins to get a result -

Sabres needed to go 25-8 in their last 33 to get to 91 points and a "boxers chance" to make the playoffs. Not sure I'm using the expression exactly right , but you get the gist of it since then they've gone 5-1 so now it's 20-7. Tonight is a must win -
100% agree. Not sure why the anthem needs to be played before a sporting event, unless the actual country is being represented

I agree. If Lemieux didn't have back issues and Cancer, I think he would be considered the best forward to ever play the game.

I love how people give the thumbs down on a post like this. You are just telling it how it is.

I have a feeling people in Calgary were saying the same thing about Sam Bennett before he was traded to Florida Cozens is a tough case right now. I still think the Sabres have a player that can give a lot more than he has over the last 2 years. if they do trade him, hopefully they get a lot more than what Calgary got for Bennett
-
I think everyone is missing on the real "crown jewel" that will become available this summer and will only cost the Sabres cap space Sam Bennett - as tough as they come, plays the "rat" role are well as anyone. will drop the gloves with anyone and to top it off - is a good player not to mention - he has done the one thing Petterson, Marner and Tkachuk haven't done and that's win

I feel they are closer than they've ever been to be a playoff contender - though missing one HUGE piece - a legit top 4 defender sure a top line center would be nice and better depth of the D but they could survive without that And a better PP , especially in the first couple of months team is 23-21-3 with Dahlin A .521 winning % they are among the top 5v5 scoring teams in the league the goaltending has been inconsistent BUT you add a vet top 4 defender who is known for his D, that would help out UPL undoubtedly the biggest issue I have , knowing they are damn close, is the GM (5 years and for Power not to have a partner yet is a fireable offence in itself) I have little confidence that Adams can get the acquisition completed

If it wasn't for politics the tournament wouldn't have been what it was.
-
I think you are ignoring the political aspect of the game. Which you simply shouldn't

In 2010 we were still vastly better than the USA and fully expected to win. our defence was Daughty, Keith, Pronger, Niedermayer, Weaber and Seabrook. the centre spine was Crosby, Bergeron, Toews, Thorton and Getzlaf USA had nothing in comparison at that time. This time , there would be an arguement of which team was better on paper and we had the threat of economic war hanging overhead. Maybe the word I should have used was "important" rather than bigger?
-
We can agree to disagree. This one was way bigger
-
100% agree. Definitely bigger here in the GTA.
-
I don't agree. I think this one was bigger for Canada. Both great but no one was threatening us with annexation in 2010
-
Not going back through the thread but is someone trying to downplay Eichel as a JAG on the cup winning Vegas team?
-
I heard it was Rosen and a bunch of 28 year olds.
-
I don't think anyone said anything too controversial, only that it was a win that the country needed at this time and that they understood the game had extra meaning to Canadians
