  1. April 13th Recap late 1st / Early 2nd Round Prospects OHL Network Brendan Lemieux LW Barrie 0G 0A +1 +/- in Colts 3-2 loss to Battalian Colts lose series 4 games to 2 Final Play-off States – 11GP 7G 3A -1+/-
  2. HOCKEY WRITERS MOCK DRAFT OUT TODAY: #1-10 2014 Mock Draft Selections 1. Buffalo Sabres – C Sam Reinhart Tim Murray and the scouting staff take the most well-rounded forward in the draft. Despite Sam Bennett being at the top of the charts, Reinhart has been the guy talked about all year Sam Reinhart (photo whl.ca) and gives the Sabres a tangible forward to compliment second-line center Cody Hodgson. Aaron Ekblad is going to be a great defenseman but Reinhart is a better fit based on the organizations depth chart and the fact the Sabres are the lowest scoring team in the league with 150 goals or 1.92 GPG. Long term, Reinhart and Hodgson make a tangible 1-2 punch at center for the Sabres. http://thehockeywrit...-april-edition/
  3. From Feb, so I apologize if this has already been posted, still pretty cool Who Are The Potential Steals From The 2013 Draft (4th Round & Up)? 1. Hudson Fasching – U of Minnesota, NCAA, RW, 6’3, 214 lb. – 118 (4th) to LA. 2. Ben Harpur – D, Guelph, OHL, 6’6, 212 lb. – 108 (4th) to Ottawa. 3. Saku Mäenalanen – RW, Jokipojat, Mestis, 6’3, 185 lb. – 108 (5th) to Nashville. 4. Brenden Kichton – D, St. John’s, AHL, 6’0, 190 lb. – 108 (7th) to Winnipeg. 5. MacKenzie Weegar – D, Halifax, QMJHL, 5’11, 207 lb. – 206 (7th) to Florida.
  4. There is no way, they don't draft Ekblad (he wont come out to say it though). Can you imagine the backlash by Oilers fans if they draft anyone else but him if he is on the board.
  5. April 8th Recap late 1st / Early 2nd Round Prospects OHL Network Michael Bunting LW Sault Ste. Marie 0G 0A in 3-2 OT loss to Erie Greyhounds lose series 4 games to 0 Bunting's Season is over - Final Play Off Stats 9GP 5G 1A +1+/- Eric Cornel C Peterborough 0G 1A -2+/- in 3-1 loss to Oshawa Petes trail series 2 games to 1 Brendan Lemieux LW Barrie 0G 0A -1 +/- in Colts 2-1 loss to North Bay Barrie trails series 2 games to 1.
  6. I don't get how can you assume that the Panthers, Flames, Islanders, Hurricanes or whomever win the lottery doesn't take Ekblad. He may not be the next Shea Weber but he is going to be a 25 min a night guy for the next 10 years. I'd think he is the safest pick in the draft. Hell, the Sabres could get #1 and take Ekblad!
  7. April 7th Recap late 1st / Early 2nd Round Prospects OHL Michael Bunting LW Sault Ste. Marie 0G 0A in 2-0 loss to Erie Greyhounds trail series 2 games to 0 WHL Chase De Leo C Portland 0G 0A in 2-1 loss to Victoria Winterhawks lead the best of 7 series 2 games to 1
  8. I would be concerned about Ehlers size, I think the Sabres are trying to emulate the way the Western Confernece plays and I don't see him fitting. I REALLY like the thought of Brendan Lemieux with the late first round pick (hopefully using the Blues) or maybe trading up a few spots to get him. A draft that brings in either of the Sams, Dal Colle, Lemieux and Adrian Kempe or Anton Karlsson would be beyond fantastic.
  9. The Islanders are going to rely on a bunch of hard working kids next year hard to say how they will do. Besides the Sabres, im not sure what other team I can say they are going to be better then next year. 1) Calgary we can say the same thing about - young and hard working (though they don't have a Tavares on their team). 2) Florida - will have Barkov and Luongo for a full year. Maybe Huberdeau bounces back from his sophmore slump 3) Carolina - Have a feeling they are going the Buffalo route by trading off their assets. 4) Edmonton - Hopefully with better goaltending and adding Nurse to their blueline and possibly Ekblad they should finally see some improvement 5) Vancouver - assuming they trade Kessler in the off-season and start a serious re-build. 6) Toronto - who knows what will happen to this team, if Bernier doesnt stand on his head again they could be passed by the Islanders. I just don't see the Islanders gettting out of the group battling at the bottom of the standings next year and could finish anywhere from 22 to 29 (I reserved 30 for our Sabres). That being said, Im still not 100% sure I want them to defer. 2 top 4/5 picks this year sure would look good in Blue and Gold in the coming years.
