  1. Does anyone know if Goyette was our second captain after Floyd Smith or is my memory faulty?
  2. Eddie was one of my original favorites, but this trade may have had more of an impact than the 3/3 rights to Lariviere for Desjardins
  3. I'll admit I had to look up Lariviere. No recollection of him at all! He did play an important part in Sabres history - bringing Desjardins
  4. Februaury 28, 2006: Countless fans itching for the Swordmen to return to play after an Olympic break that is beginning to approach an eternity!
  5. Until I read this I didn't even remember Paimont playing for the Swordsmen. I think of him as a Kansas City Scout!
  6. I think the picture of Gretz going by with the puck in the net past Edwards is as recognizable of an nhl photo as Orr flying through the air after winning the Cup in '70.
  7. BtP - I think that is the least of our worries - most of the nuns that taught there while I was a student are no longer nuns. If one does start posting , however I'll be hot on your tail on my way out. Little did I dream that my 32 year old tribute to #2 would uncover a grammar school link to 3 Tennesseans! BSS couldn't have had 350 students when I was there and it sure didn't have a preschool.
  8. I still remember putting up a tribute bulletin board to Tim at Blessed Sacrament School - 7th grade. Hard to believe it has been 32 years. Although his best playing days were clearly as a Leaf, Horton was very important to the quick development of a young team in Buffalo. His presence, as short as it was, likely were significant to the '75 Cup Final run.
  9. If memory serves me correctly, Rico had 5 more goals to score that season, setting the record (at the time) at 44 goals.
  10. See PA we REALLY do read them!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Agreed! That is still my all time favorite sports exit!
  12. Many of us with a little gray showing recall that at the time Craig Ramsey was setting the NHL consecutive games record Randy Smith was setting the identical NBA record as a Brave!
  13. To quote "Roll the Highlight Film" - "who says he's afraid to fly, Alexander Mogilny just sent a vapor trail past (some goalie)"
  14. Labatt - I believe the Hab fans were chanting "ole ole ole ole". It is one thing I thought was a little clever. I took the rhythmical chant as a play on the opening lines from Byron Lee & the Dragonaires beach anthem "Hot Hot Hot" and the similarity with the french pronunciation of Huet's name.
  15. And I thought the French Connection came from the movie!
  16. Instead of the post I guess we can look forward to JPom putting it in the net in the third! I missed the first but I can't believe the Habs dominated the way they did and we took the lead. Hopefully the last second goal will completely demoralize them.
  17. Tarrytown - I LOVE your avatar!
  18. I can almost hear our Darling Ted now: "Clear the track, here comes Eddie Shack"
  19. So far it has been 40 FUN minutes. I'm looking forward to the next 20. Corp you may have called it early today 4 - 1 good guys!!!!!!!!
  20. Kindred spirits - you got me there!
  21. PTS - I owe you an apology. I was a little reactionary!
  22. While Sabres fans would love to have Miller play in the Olympics - me included - we should have more class than to wish someone gets hurt. Next thing you know we'll be wanting Esche to follow in the footsteps of Pelle Lindburgh. Let's show some class as we cheer for our Swordsmen
  23. We definately took back the momentum. It was a much better period but both teams look like they are reaching for (and often missing) the puck instead of skating to it. Miller has played very well but this game may take 5 or 6 to win.
  24. The Sabres are lucky - Kotalik's goal was a nice shot but it should have been stopped. We (me included) would be screaming about the weak goal if Marty let it in. Through 20 it is clear Atl came to play and wants the game. We refuse to clear the puck out of our own end. If we don't get some momentum in the first 5 minutes of the second I fear tonight may be a lost cause.
  25. I hope the Swordsmen are as ready to drop the puck as I am! Let's GO BUFF - A - LO Thrash Atlanta tonight!!!!!!!!!!!
