  1. Interesting - are the emergency goalies designated as "Kings" or "visitor" for each game? Do they monitor the free food, etc. consumption during the game in case needed?
  2. Probably the most interesting thing I have is a pair of orange seats
  3. As great as the game memories are, the best memories may be of the Open Practice during the Christmas holiday. 16,433 kids and their mother for practice. Somehow the scrimmage always ended in a tie
  4. Went to a couple Bisons games in their last season and countless Sabres games at the Aud until I moved out of NYS in '83. My first Sabres game was late season against the Blues. It was a weeknight, but cub scouts night. Since I had school thenext day, Dad took me home at the end of the second period. Bert broke the rookie goal record in the third period. I lived within walking distance of the Main Street bus line. Collected many milk cartons and rode the bus with my buddies to watch the Braves. What a magnificent barn that was - I even remember the gray seats and the orange addition.
  5. Halloween - I've had a thing for Jamie Lee since seeing her on the big screen in 1978
  6. Don't ask him to change - I still haven't gotten over my displeasure with King Kong Korab and, by many accounts, he was a very good, effective player for the Sabres
  7. I think it is far too early to tell, but I like what I've seen. Hasn't Skinner been a streaky scorer throughout his career? If so, this may simply be an intoxicating streak.
  8. Yes - look at the banner hanging in the rafters!
  9. Me neither. I voted for Dahlin and expect him to join that triumvirate in a first shift of his career goal to send every Sabres fan into a frenzy!
  10. The first time I recall being in the Aud was for a Bisons game. I remember the Oranges being added. If you were never in the oranges you can't imagine how steep they were. I have enough acrophobia that I was uncomfortable jumping up for a big play - Sabres goal, big bucket for the Braves, etc. Schoeny takes on Orr, Cashman, and Vadnais. I learned three fighting penalties result in a game misconduct. I could go on. . .
  11. Hockey at the Aud was special - so many memories: Once upon a time it had grey seats
  12. Made me a little wistful for Schoeny v. Orr, Cashman, and Vadnais but, alas, I'm older now
  13. Like many others, I agree. This is one reason that for years I have enjoyed Euro hockey on the larger ice surface.
  14. It could have been this
  15. I'd like him to add Reinhart to the roster
  16. I wish you patience - years ago I had poison ivy as bad as your picture. It's miserable for days to weeks depending on your body, but it does go away. You also learn to NEVER experience such an outbreak again. I slept in long pants/sleeves for several days so the sheets didn't rub the blisters
  17. Me too, although short in the photo
  18. You want go big or go home - Bobby Orr with good knees!
  19. I agree - I think one problem is he's neither Ted nor RJ. The simulcast is also a huge problem for him. He'd be much better if he was only "calling" the game for a single audience. I generally listen to games on satellite radio and need to know when a goal is scored
  20. I've repeatedly read these names as comparisons. Why doesn't anyone ever talk about Borje Salming? Any reason other than age?
  21. No love for Jiri Dudacek?
  22. Schoeny, Gare, Bert in that order. Age has a lot to do with it. I was present as a kid when Schoeny took on 3 Bruins, spilling into the Zamboni corrider. Gare scores seconds into his NHL career to open the season. Bert was, well, the best there was and a pleasure to watch. I remember Carriere quoted as saying Bert made playing easy - get the puck, take it behing the net, wait for Bert to come back and get it - watch him go 200 feet and you're plus 1.
  23. i'd also throw in losing to the isles in both 76 and 80. those were cup quality teams and the ens was just awful.
  24. Back when I had the DirecTv sports pack, even without CI you'd get the pre and post game shows. I'd often listen to the game on XM radio and turn on the TV postgame show
