Are there waiver implications if we bring up Clague?

Seriously, from 21-23 drafts we have 4 1st round picks (Rosen, Savoie, Östlund, Kulich, 23 1st) who haven't played an NHL game yet and 5 2nd round picks (Polapov, Kisakov, and three '23 2nd rounders) - I am not counting the goalie we drafted in the 2nd round because we need him for depth. That's 9 high draft picks, all forwards, that can be packaged with a Mitts or VO to bring in some defensive help. Tage and Skinner are locked up long term, Cozens is next and JJ and Quinn aren't going anywhere, plus I can see Tuch signing an extension. We simply don't have room for all of these picks, now is the time to use the draft capital to improve the team. We have a top offense in the league, tighten up the D and we will make the playoffs.

Wouldn't mind seeing Asplund in for either Mitts or Olofsson. Earlier in the year Granato emphasized that the forward line-up was a "rotation" , that seems to have slowed down and I'm a bit confused why either Mitts or VO haven't sat out at least one.

I really like the idea of, for at least one game scratching Mitts & VO and running this as the 3rd line. It can't be any worse than what weve seen with Mitts-VO-and whoever else.

Love what I'm seeing tonight from 3/4 of our lines. The Asplund , mitts and vo line has been invisible.

Love the response. In seasons past wed usually play Tampa pretty well and then cave as soon as they got a goal in to get ahead. Not tonight.

We are at a fork in the road. To the left, UPL comes out swinging and we turn this thing around, with Anderson providing some good support here and there. OR UPL has a bad game, and Anderson gets injured the next game and we're running a UPL / Subban tandem and, well, yeah.

Good thing we extended him before he's actually accomplished anything.

Do the Sabres know theyre allowed to score on the power play?

This is a symptom of having the youngest team in the league. You can't expect the kids (Peterka, Quinn, Power, Cozens) to be throwing heavy hits on full grown men, and players like Oloffson, Skinner, Byrson, Pilut don't really seem to have the body type to be outmuscling other players.
