  1. I'll be so disappointed if they keep three goalies. That 3rd goalie slot takes away a spot from an up and comer, and that value of developing your young prospect is much more valuable than having two mediocre back-ups. Off the top of your head, can anyone else point to other teams in recent history that have used 3 roster spots on goalies? I'm drawing a blank but I don't follow the rest of the league anywhere near as close as I do the Sabres.
  2. Putting Benson on our top line would be a mistake. This line is going to be drawing the opposing teams top line and there's no way Benson will be ready for that on a nightly basis. It'd also be a mistake to take Tuch off that line, classic case of "if it ain't broke don't fix it".
  3. I really hope they don't keep 3 goalies, doing so takes away a spot for a Benson or a Biro or another youngster who would benefit from the experience of being on an NHL squad, opposed to keeping 3 goalies which I can only imagine is to protect their egos?
  4. After tonight the Sabres will have 3 preseason games remaining. This saturday, next Wednesday and next Friday. If all goes well it'd be nice to see him get the last two games in.
  5. Yikes. Wish I didn't bet my buddy from Pittsburgh $10 on this game before I saw the lineups.
  6. How many of those defensemen played for the sabres last year? 4?
  7. So this shows me they're 19th and 21st in weight and then height, relatively not a big team. As others mentioned they don't play a physical game and Adams has even said he was tired of them getting pushed around and that's why he got Greenway. Being out muscled is also a symptom of having such a young team, they're not fully developed yet and I believe the grit will come. Look at Dahlin, for example, his first few years teams were clearly targeting him, in the past two seasons he's really development a mean streak and more players are going to follow suit.
  8. These numbers are meaningless of we don't have comparables for other teams.
  9. Don't break up Skinner - Thompson - Tuch.
  10. Adams has stated time and time again that he's always in contact with other GMs doing his due diligence. Aside from the Eichel trade where he was holding all of the chips, he's been very gunshy about trades, usually getting what I feel is less than market value for the picks or players he's brining in, but those other trades are all peanuts compared to the Eichel trade. I wonder what a fair trade would look like? Zegras is a center and there's no way Adams is moving Tage or Cozens given their contracts. Mitts had similar stats last year (6 fewer points) and is two years older. Casey + non-top shelf Prospect? Casey and VO? I don't think I'd want to pay what the Ducks would be asking.
  11. These mid-tier prospects are really going to have to work their ***** off to get the jump on the Savoie, Benson, Kulich, Rosen, and Ostlunds ahead of them. GMKA's next big challenge is going to be figuring out which prospects to keep and which ones to trade away/give them an opportunity with another club.
  12. I hope everyone on this board one day finds someone to feel about them the way liger feels about Novikov.
  13. By my count the Sabres are 2-0. Anyone know the breakdown for the other 5 teams in the tournament?
  14. Rest in piss!
  15. It'll be nice to a physical D man whose not afraid to hit in our top-4. I like that he pushes joki to the 3rd pair. He doesn't need to be fancy or flashy, that'll be Powers job.
  16. I hope we get to see at least one preseason game with Krebs centering Savoie & Benson.
  17. I chose A but what I really wanted to pick was a combination of A & C. I view his signing as a "replacing what Anderson brought to the team" style move. You didn't sign him for the state of his on ice play.
  18. Really can't wait for the Sabres season to start after that one...
  19. Happy Birthday!
  20. Will he be in the prospect tournament?
  21. 35 Shutouts, 45 goals, 90 assists.
  22. Losing the Bills would be worse for the city than losing the Sabres. That being said, if I had to choose I'm picking the Sabres. Sports are entertainment after all and if I had to choose to be entertained 17 times a year vs 82 I'm picking 82.
  23. This essentially washes out us going 0-15 on nationally televised games - unless we have some overlap between the two.
