I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but the Rochester Americans are sitting in the basement of the AHL and I've heard it stated before that they play Dan's system down there so the call-ups know what's expected when they get a sniff of the show. Does it resonate with anyone that if the system sucks in the AHL and if the system sucks in the NHL that maybe there's a problem along the line? Is is really so bad that the captain of your team completely quits on you and gets loaned to your rival? What kind of message does that send to our younger prospects? What about the winning culture they want to instill from the bottom up? I also agree with whoever posted above about Dan's fate with the team being tied in with Rex Ryan saga. I'm 100% positive that if the Bills had a successful season and Rex was still on board that Dan would not be behind the bench right now. But instead Rex was a disaster, the organization has been heralded as a joke with no punchline. Firing the coach of your other sports team mid-season will only exasperate that notion.

Meh. Hoping Eichel does something with the puck that makes it go in the net. -

GM Tim Murray - Time for a serious conversation

To be fair, if Matthews missed the first ~20 games a la Eichel, they wouldn't be where they are now in the standings. -

Woof, the only thing more disappointing than the refs non calls were the sabres. Sell the assets and drop the coach. -

My impressions so far is that Kulikov is looking terrible along with the rest of our defense. The forwards look good and I hope they can keep at it and pull out a win. -
I'm not a fan of them having their bye week this late into the season. Does anyone know how this compares to other teams bye? When all is said and done we're going to come back 7-8 points back of a playoff spot, needing to leap-frog 5 teams....which seems like a pretty tall order. The COL and AZ games are going to be must wins.

Deadline Nearly Here! What is GMTM going to do?
Mustache of God replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I wouldn't be surprised to see a combination of Foligno, Girgensons, Moulson, Ennis, one of our recent AHL callups, and a draft pick put together in return for help on the blue-line. I'm hoping Franson and Kuli get moved as I don't see us bringing back Franson and I think Kulkov would do better for himself financially as a UFA rather than resigning here and I'd rather not lose them for nothing. If we come out of the deadline with a somewhat established defensive prospect, somebody with a high(er) than average ceiling, I'll be happy. I'm not expecting any big moves. -

If Kane gets traded, it'll be after the season is over. There's no way Murray trades our most prolific scorer while we still have a faint sniff at the playoffs. I'm in the camp that would not like to see Kane traded. Rivet also made an interesting point on the Instigators today, in between telling a story of how a "smokeshow" once let out her "bazammers" on the jumbotron, that Gionta saying he wants to stay publicly doesn't mean much, rather than it's the right thing to hear from the captain. Gionta saying he'd entertain a trade would have trade rumors fly-off the handle. If there is a trade with him, it'll be a behind the scenes thing. Talk comes in at the 14:50 mark here : http://media.wgr550.com/a/118486769/02-21-the-instigators-hr-1.htm The "bazammers" story comes in at the 43:00 minute mark: http://media.wgr550.com/a/118486769/02-21-the-instigators-hr-1.htm -

The Buffalo Sabres are running like a god damned fine tuned hockey franchile-mobile. Tim Murray, fantastic guy, he's doing a fabulous job, a fab-u-lous job. I can honestly say he's the greatest GM ever.

GDT: Colorado Avalanche @ Buffalo Sabres 7:30 pm MSG.
Mustache of God replied to Porsche's topic in The Aud Club
I'm not sure how I feel about tonight. They're going up against a tank tonight, an easy two points, right? The game is on a Thursday, this team can't win on Thursdays. We won last game, previous win/loss patterns dictate we will lose this game. If the team has any chance of making the playoffs these games vs. the avalanche and coyotes are MUST wins so I'd expect the team to come out with urgency, right? I see two scenarios: A. The team plays well and has an easy victory against the worst team in the league and keep pace in the wildcard hunt B. The Sabres come out flat and get embarrassed on National television, prompting management to fire DDB and sparking the team to an unlikely win-streak to close the season, get into the playoffs and bring a cup home to Buffalo. Win-win, really. Go Sabres! -
That was...unexpected? How do we feel about Therrien replacing Bylsma?

I doubt I'll be watching as I'm cooking for the wife tonight. If I get her to drink enough Champagne maybe I can convince her to let me put the game on. -
Players jump at an opportunity to play for the Pats because they're just about guaranteed the chance to compete for the superbowl. Players jump at an opportunity to play for the Sabres because the wings are good here, probably. There is a slight difference.
-
When you're elite you're elite because you've mastered every conceivable aspect of the game. That hair of peripheral vision gained here is the difference between a no-look pass going to the tape of his winger or not.

11 am on a gameday and no thread? Have our Sabre souls officially been broken? I'll give it a shot. I hear Lehner is starting and Bogo may be healthy. The big story is how will the team respond after the comments at the end of the disappointing Vancouver game. To keep consistent with their inconsistency I'm guessing we'll see a win here. Ottawa should be looking to make a statement after being shutout by the Buffalo Sabres over the weekend. It's also Valentines Day so spread some love today, or don't. Also: How does Buffalo respond to Enzosauce, a glorified ranch with hot sauce? If it were bleu cheese maybe we'd be talking but talk about not identifying with your market.

I don't like him as a person (this judgement only coming from the interviews I've listened to which isn't much but all I have to go on) and I think his coaching style is an extension of his persona: tame, boring, defensive, and just has a loser mentality to it.
-
I simply don't like DDB as a person. He's so boring to listen to in any interviews and it seems like it's always an excuse with him. "This team is so good at this so we have to limit there chances" , "this team does this so we can't do this". He comes off as a loser and I hate it. Recently when we lost to Tampa he was saying something about how you can't get pucks deep on them, Bishop controls the puck or something....A. Tampa is one of the worst teams in the league, I don't buy that at all, and B. if you know that, stop dumping it in and change your system! (sorry derrico). DDB is lifeless, I want a coach who shows a modicum of emotion. Bylsma is an excuse machine and I think that seeps into the players mentality.
