  1. But his stats do not support $8M. That's what I was saying. He's an RFA and his only hope would be arbitration. It's going to be a hard case to make given the evidence on his own team. I wouldn't pay him $8M.
  2. I don't disagree.. but it's a fine line. Trade deals tend to be more expensive than off-season deals. I think it's possible Buffalo makes a move to bring someone in. I don't think it will upset the prospect pool too much either. See.. with you I can't tell if this is a positive thing or a negative thing 🙂
  3. And I'll be at that next game courtesy of the storm that postponed the Dec 29 matchup! Well, I believe the NHLPA is who negotiates what the NHL is allowed to fine as part of the CBA. So it's really the player's own union that is not protecting the players. The enforcement of the amounts is left to the NHL sure, but the maximums, etc. are not. I could be wrong.. but I don't think so. I've often thought the NHLPA should police its own.
  4. But that said.. Vasilevsky didn't help the Lightning last night. I'd like better defense from the 5 skaters on the ice to lower opponent's scoring opportunities and percentages. And that's why I said what I did above.. anything can happen. All that aside.. the Sabres goaltending isn't good enough, but UPL is young, Comrie is a little less young. Anderson is old.. so.. defense, defense, defense. or offense offense offense and never let FLA have the puck. I'm good with that too.
  5. This is fair. Also, that would be more minutes watching television than I will spend watching the Bills next year. Frazier is trash.
  6. Invoking that douchenozzle does call for an immediate judge of the invoker. You are warranted.
  7. Hell yeah they are... I was just trying to pick on the Brawndo bot 🙂
  8. And I never said adding depth is crazy. Why are you insinuating that I did? That said.. trade deadline deals are often not the best value deals. There's no need to do anything.. the Sabres aren't winning anything this year.. no need to give up the future for the now.
  9. ***** man.. which is it? 😉
  10. This is why it's folly for the Sabres to do anything crazy. Boston is going all, all in. The Leafs just did. Tampa has to be wondering what they can do. Every team near the top of the standings in the East, except the Devils are on their last legs. Making the playoffs would be great.. but the Sabres aren't quite ready to make a good run. No need to give up a solid long run starting next year for a one and done this year.
  11. Well, it's stenciled in at center ice. So they should know.. we should all know. 🙂 30 years. This is your best post ever on here.... and it's not even close. (and I hate using that phrase, but this post was that good.) You were a bit premature, but I like the enthusiasm. It was... but not how you think. This is super unfortunate because in the post game you'd hear Tage Thompson say the he wished Boosh's goal was at home so we could hear his song. These guys know. 25% of his goals are game winners? I'll take it! Look, I went absolutely bat shite over the non-call on Cernak. So much so that my daughter texted out to my wife from her bedroom - "Does Dad kiss his mother on the cheek with that mouth?" Fair enough. Boosh scoring the OT GWG, shorthanded after being on the ice for 1:41... are you kidding? In other threads I commented on why I'm not going to get down on the team...this is why. Yeah.. they got problems.. a few.. but that goal was pretty damn awesome... especially after they gave up 2 goals they shouldn't have. Bring on the Panthers... or something.
  12. That makes more sense. If I am reading it correctly they have about $20M in projected cap space. DeBrincat isn't going to get much of a raise.. if any is he? He's barely above Batherson in scoring and Batherson is signed at far less than DeBrincat is making this year. They've gotta be looking to bring someone in.. but then you'd think they would use Zaitsev for the trade? I guess we'll see what happens. Your explanation make the most sense so far. 🙂
  13. But why are they getting rid of Crouse? He's 25 and signed. Did I miss a reason they'd offload him?
  14. It is a plan. You are confusing the discussion when you say its not a plan. It might be a plan that is not succeeding or a plan that does not fit your plan but it is, 100% without a doubt, a plan. Every move is a chance, every non-move is a chance. It's all about what level of uncertainty someone is willing to accept. For the sake of discussion, let's try an exercise. I will give a person $1M. They can choose to keep it or they can press a button where there's a random percentage of going double or nothing. The question is, how high does the chance of success need to get before each person will press the button. Fundamentally in this conversation, you're pushing the button before Adams. That might be fine, but you might also end up with nothing. Both of you have plans, but your plans differ on when, where, and how actions are going to be taken. If accept the team because I also know that I have no say in what is happening with the team. I choose to go to games because I still find them entertaining. I choose to believe the team is improving and I choose to take hope in that. It's all good if others don't but they have just as much say in what will happen as I do. It does not mean I don't want to team to be better. What should I do? Just complain about the team? For me, that's not a productive use of my time. So I'd rather look at the positives. That's my choice. By the way.. the Leafs have tried a lot of different things to try and make a run for the Cup and end up getting bounced in the first round. I remember when we used to debate on here about getting bounced in the first round or just missing the playoffs versus rebuilding the team. The Leafs don't get far this year that will be the same conversation (it already is really) See above. I accept the product because it's all I can accept. if I choose not to accept it then I would just stop paying attention to it. No need to spend energy arguing things I cannot change. Everyone's choice is different, but that's why I choose to support the team right now.
  15. Harvey Balls
  16. Can she ship to Rochester? Not asking for a friend.. 🙂
  17. Did I miss the trade for Huberdeau?
  18. Interesting move... not like Ottawa needs cap space, or to free up roster spots, or is up against the contract limits. Moreover, Zaitsev had a 10 team NTC. Guess Chicago wasn't on the list. Capfriendly shows 5 D active (including Zaitsev) for the Sens.. are both D on IR could come back and they'd still only be at 21 on the roster. I've got to be missing something.
  19. Ain't no harm as long as people are attacking the points being made as opposed to those who are making them.
  20. I'd much prefer a GM with the brains to build a solid team. Guts are what get you in a fights you have no hope of winning. Waiting for Levi is a plan. It may not be your plan, but it is indeed a plan. All plans are hopes and prayers unless you can see the future. Plans succeed and fail but only do so after they are completed and you can judge them in their entirety. Interestingly enough Adams has done pretty well so far, signing players to solid contracts, drafting well, and the team is much improved. You need to accept that your reality isn't necessarily THE reality. You are more impatient and would have done more things. Like I said above, guts is what gets you in trouble. Brains are what you need to make intelligent moves.
  21. Do you think the Sabres are better than the Leafs? I really wish Don Granato could have frozen time and repositioned UPL for a few of those goals. If he could have told Power to turn around and not change in a split second. The Sabres were beaten by a superior team that just got even better. Why is this shocking to anyone? There are clearly people on here who think the talent on the Sabres is far better than it is.
  22. I was dying when I saw this video. Skinner flat out nails awkward like a professional.. and Tuch.. hah. Anyway.. this kind of stuff is what teams need to do. It's brilliant marketing.
  23. Interesting. Very few sports are actually produced in a higher resolution. Most are still broadcast at 720p or 1080i with 720p still tending to be the favored resolution overall. This means that whether you are using FuboTV, Youtube.TV, DirecTV, or Spectrum.. their source material is in low resolution. Linear TV is TV that is not on-demand with predetermined broadcast schedules (aka: You use a guide to know when it will be on). It is not solely cable or satellite but includes streamers as well. The upscaling capabilities of broadcasters, equipment, your TV play a huge role in how that broadcast looks on a 4k TV. Naturally the one variable that streaming TV adds to the mix is adaptive bitrate which will impact your viewing quality based on the ability of your connection to maintain a steady bitrate. So, you'd see a worse broadcast if you can't hit the bitrate the streaming services require. That said, if you do have a solid bitrate then the broadcasts should functionally look the same especially if the TV itself is providing the most upscaling. Better TVs with higher end processors do a far better job of handling the upscaling. The other factor on services with set top boxes is that they will often output the resolution of the broadcast and not upscale. Your TV might be set to not upscale that and then switch down to the lower resolution (assuming you have 4k TV). Some TVs will look better at that point as well (smaller screens). The good news is that the ATSC 3.0 standard will push linear TV into the 4k world (among other things) and it should lead to more content produced in 4k and then all linear providers will benefits.
  24. Yeah, Nashville is loud too, but at least they have top notch sound equipment so it doesn't make your ears bleed. The Amerks sound equipment is terribly inefficient so its defaults to just painful sound. It's great they did that and perhaps it was better in the arena, but the YT video of it was painful. If you are going to honor someone at least spend the money for some top notch recordings and why would you do it at intermission when most people are trying to offload the 5 beers they had prior?
  25. He's about the only saving grace in that movie... and even he hates that he was in it. I think you both share something in common. It says a lot in the end-credits scene in DeadPool 2 where he shoots himself in the head while reading the script and says "You're welcome Canada". Ryan Reynolds is definitely savvy with his money. His shtick may wear thin (like Will Farrel's) but he gets marketing.
