Regarding pull ups, for those who were wearing them when that thread was created and too young to remember. Mitts had a shoulder issue that was diagnosed after the combine that impacted his ability to do them. MItts will deserve the payout if he stays at his current pace. There's not even an argument. There have been plenty of stat posts on where he stands over the past 50 or so games in relation to the rest of the NHL. When he's on the ice, he drives offense and puck possession. At the moment he's worth more than Cozens. You don't trade that. The Sabres are in the best possible seat with him. He's an RFA. If he wants to hold out they can trade him. If he signs an offer sheet they can match or get the compensation (which should be pretty good if it's THAT kind of money). if he signs a good deal, they get his productivity.

GDT: Wild @ Sabres - Nov 10, 2023 - 7:00pm, MSG-B/ESPN+📺WGR📻

For the most part Cozens has not looked like he should have played most of the season. He's not performing to the level that justifies his contract, not even close at the moment. For the love of god the kid needs to learn how to take a face-off without falling down. The Sabres were completely lucky to win last night. Officiating sure as hell didn't help them but the Wild studied the book on how to play the Sabres (and they are able to execute it). Buffalo needs to figure this crap out and I don't think the solution is under contract with this team right now. I am impressed with Ryan Johnson, he'll make someone expendable and that's a good thing. I'm not confident in trying to identify the overall fix for this team, but they are not where they need to be. Not yet. I don't have confidence in playoffs right now. Something needs to change, certainly they need another impact veteran inserted into their bottom 6. I hope that's all it is... but I'm not certain it is, yet. -
It's not a waste of a game. First, it sends a message to VO on where he stands with the organization. Second, it demonstrates that against bigger teams that play a relentless game like the Wild do, Savoie isn't going to survive. Sadly that's showing true of a few too many players on the team right now, but last nights game tells me Savoie can go back to juniors. I have no doubt he'll do better against more finesse teams, but unless he does well in all situations there's no point in burning a year.

JJP and Mitts are the most exciting players on the team right now. Dahlin is probably third. The kid is driven and I love it. Earned time on the top line last night against the Wild and it immediately paid off.

I mean, I have the means and yet when I look at ticket prices I'm like.. GTFO. I looked at the Penguins game post Thanksgiving and the cheapest seat was $70. Not a chance. It really makes little sense from a pricing sensitivity and economic sense to not create a pricing schedule that gets butts in seats. Such a great tradition. Yet another way hockey stands out compared to other sports. -
If the conversation with Edmonton started with some form of swapping Tage Thompson for McDavid I am pretty sure I am listening. I wouldn't for Dahlin because you need defense. But effectively tacking on other parts and the main roster change is that? I'm there all day, every day. I like Tage but c'mon.. you bring in McDavid and Thompson ain't your 1C and you have 2Cs. Naturally it all depends what else you have to give up in addition to Thompson to get there.

Yeah, they went nuts when ROR didn't re-up and bolted for Nashville. Or perhaps it was partly because ROR said the media was bonkers and annoying.
-
Yeah, I have no need for Bryson, VO, Krebs, etc. I think Johnson has looked good so far, and he is older so that helps even if his years of experience were not in the NHL. I think they could also move Rosen. I don't think they'd want to move Kulich. But knowing what Savoie and Benson bring may shake something loose. Yeah. That's the problem. but I can't imagine they see value in players like VO being on the team. I neglected to list Rousek above but I don't see him sticking either. So let someone take a chance on them. Who knows...
-
It could, but it also allows them to get a sense of the player's ability to adapt in the NHL which could lead them to making decisions on trades that could help the team. I'm not sure how they are monkeying around at the moment. I think they are prepping to make a move and want a bit more data on what they have. This is very typical of a team in this situation.

Ryan Johnson called up; Mattias Samuelsson placed on IR

Imagine if people weren't lazy and just typed out names. It almost removes any controversy. -
https://shop.panthers.co.uk/products/adam-johnson-47-memorial-jersey?variant=44819907903730 A jersey that benefits the gofundme site they set up: https://www.gofundme.com/f/adam-johnson-the-nottingham-panthers-47?utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link_all&utm_source=customer It's pretty slick. Wish it didn't cost $44 to ship to the US or else I would totally pick one up.

He ain't exactly been playing with superstars... I think he'll be okay.. if they give him wingers who can be creative and skate with speed.

Sabres Announce Lukas Rousek called up from the Amerks

Maybe a low quality illegal stream? 🙂 -
Yes, but it's okay for the NHL to not disclose material facts in order to maximize a sale value... whereas apparently it is not okay for the team they were investigating to have withheld material facts in order to maximize a deal they were working. Does the NHL give up a first round draft pick? Does Ottawa mysteriously win the #1 overall pick this year? The owner ain't happy.. and he shouldn't be.

MSG's Sabre Games: No Cable Needed Next Season
LTS replied to That Aud Smell's topic in The Aud Club
Your cheapest bet would be Fubo I think. You'll just miss out on TNT games. I'm at $90 right now. Not sure where $130 is coming from, even if I went with Spectrum I would be paying around $90..for 12 months. Then it's all bets are off mode both with the cable package and with the new "free" Xumo box which is only free for 12 months. -
Well.. it's being investigated.. which I suppose would happen anyway. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/38780605/adam-johnson-death-police-investigation-england That said.. I've seen two neck incidents in my lifetime and the first was far more than enough. It's just horrible, and stuff happens that all the protection in the world can't prevent. You just hope it never does... and sadly this time it did.
-
If you read it as up! it makes no sense (it's an l not a !). If it you read it as UPL it makes way more sense.
-
Doesn't D4rk rock one of those at times?
-
And yet.. So, you know. Sometimes, stuff happens.
-
Given that the Sabres can't beat Jake Allen it would make sense to try and get him. 🙂

It was your post that talked both quantity and quality that I was questioning. I'm not talking anything other than trying to figure out which it is you wanted. Your post contradicted itself talking both quantity and quality with your last line insinuating that somehow Adams should have got 3 NHL goaltenders. The entire distillation of my point is that injuries to your top 2 goaltenders, whoever they are, is usually pretty damning for a team. So no matter WHO you have as those goaltenders, they aren't making saves if they can't play. I asked questions in my original response to you and you've yet to respond to them. Your only hope was trying to twist words around. You still have not answered the original questions. It's honestly not worth talking about any further. Clearly you are fixated on trying to make a point of some kind. Pimlach at least debated the three NHL goaltenders. I still don't agree with him because nothing is proven, but at least he was addressing the issue.
-
It wouldn't matter who Adams traded for Hellebuyck. The point of the post you made was saying he hadn't done enough to overcome injuries to two goalies. That was what I was questioning. If he had given up Rosen and Savoie for Hellebuyck then he'd not have them now to give up for a third goalie. Your original post was focused on how many goalies the Sabres had that were "NHL" level. Any my question was, you can go get two goalies that are NHL level, both can still get injured, and you'd still be in this spot. New Jersey has 3 goalies. You are pointing to Daws. Let's just say he's as proven as Levi is at this point. The argument of "promise" on a goaltender gets shot down around here in relation to Buffalo criteria so it doesn't hold for another team. So New Jersey has Schmid, who has part of 1 season with some success and has looked like crap this year. 1-0-1 in 3 games (so he must have been pulled) - .863 SV%, 4.07 GAA. Whereas Comrie is at .914 and 2.45. He's 1-1 and we know why he didn't finish the third game. So Schmid had success last post season. Binnington won a cup in his first year called up to St. Louis and has been crap since. Bottom line, NJ has one goaltender in Vanacek who has been reasonably good and two unproven young goaltenders. If Schmid gets to age 26 and is an NHL goaltender, then great, but he can't be anointed one yet. My passionate defense of Adams? I didn't defend Adams. I asked what people expected him to do which was "more than trying". We all know he tried and was unable to make it happen. So i requested people to respond with what they perceived would have been good. I'll freely admit that Adams could probably get any goaltender in the league if he wanted. I am sure a trade of Thompson, Cozens, and Dahlin would get him ANYONE. But the question is, how stupid should Adams be to go acquire a goaltender? No one ever seems to answer that question. They just critique the lack of result without analyzing what it would take to get the result they would be happy with. And in the end? it would not matter. As I said, if Adams had been able to get two NHL goaltenders without giving up too much it would not change the fact that if BOTH were injured, you'd still be on #3. Do you think the Devils Daws would hold up? He might...but it's absolutely a crap shoot. What makes Daws any better than Levi? But for the real kicker on here, let's analyze the TB Lightning, who has a goaltender who has played 7 games so far this year with a record of 4-1-2. That goaltender has a .925 SV% and 2.56 GAA. Hell, based on those stats that would be an NHL goaltender the Sabres could use... of course on this forum there was a whole lot of speculation that TBL would go get a goaltender and that they should be interested in Comrie or UPL... because people all know Jonas Johansson was not an NHL goaltender... Oh.. but apparently he is. The inevitable response is... oh but the Lightning are able to play better defense in front of him. And if that's the argument you want to make then the natural counter-argument is.. and has been.. until the Sabres skaters play better defense in front of their goaltender... every goaltender will not look NHL ready.
-
Wwhat do you do more than trying? Are you once again advocating that Adams should have gone full stupid and made a deal so lopsided against the Sabres that it would hurt the team overall? What is "more than trying"? That high price for Hellebuyck would look really bad if Hellebuyck was injured. Let's say he manages to fleece GMs and makes the most sweetheart deals in the world for the Sabres and brought in ANY two goaltenders that would actually make YOU happy. Then both of them get injured. Would you still be making this post? Of course you would, because you are actually blasting a GM for not having THREE goalies on the roster that are "NHL" level. Which teams have that luxury?

Whoooooa. The whole bowl is great. Perhaps not 20 minutes later.. but at the time?

GDT: 10/24/23 Buffalo Sabres @ Ottawa Senators -- MSG and Radio 6:45? PM
LTS replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
First bolded: Why not? They won. They didn't get hosed by the officials or anyone. They beat Ottawa. They may have bent, but they did not break and they won. What else is the definition of deserving to win than winning? Second bolded: When did the Senators tie the game? I must have missed it. They only blew 3 of the 4 goals they were leading by. Now, can we talk about Stutzle? He'll be a solid representative for Germany on the 10m platform event in Paris this summer.
