Thanks for this GoDD. Great post. I think this is the right pick for the Bills. They needed corner depth because McGee won't last an entire season, McKelvin WILL get turned inside out, and Florence will inevitably be flagged an excessive amount of times. We need younger corners to compete for the job, and I think with a full offseason regimen, the rookies from last year (Rogers and Williams [do we own stock on that name?!]) will be much improved. I think round two the Bills should look receiver or tackle (leaning OT).

good points. And I agree that on the surface, he does seem to be the anithesis of what we all make Derek Roy out to be.
-
well played sir haha!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I want you to know that the Bennet Brauer character was the effect I was going for  It's hard to keep track these days! but yeah, that's basically the idea I was getting at.

1) I write off the Hodgson stuff as: is anyone on the team saying he's a problem? not yet at least. I really don't care what kind of character issues a GM who needs to save face is toting around. I have seen two other people bring facts to the table (I figured I didn't need to repeat them). Gillis did nothing but talk up this prospect until the end of this year. If you're just looking to get rid of a player for those reasons, don't you try to at least get a little more for them in return? Vancouver definitely could've looked to another team for some sort of grit, rather than Buffalo for a big question mark. I don't buy for one second that he dumped him because of his father. SEE: LPF's post above. 2) I am doing just that: dismissing the situation, as it is someone else's problem, not this Sabre fan's problem. Did his dad do it? I read the article(s), but i wasn't there. I try not to get myself wrapped up in he said, she said. There's always two sides of a story, and the truth is somewhere in the middle. Was something said? probably along those lines, yeah. Does it have ANY bearing on how CODY Hodgson develops as a center for the Buffalo Sabres? ummm...NO! 3) I do believe that every one important in a management position (i.e. TB, TP, LR, and DR) all did an interview on WGR or elsewhere where the FANS (instead of the oh so wonderful Buffalo media that everyone around here praises ( )) got to ask questions. I do believe that's a better situation. My apologies if you didn't get to call in and ask a question. Solid facts? you got one thing right, you bring your opinion ALL the time. I am not in a denial bubble, and neither are a lot of other posters here. I find it insulting that you throw that around so often, touting around on a high horse as if you and DeLuca with your oh so great vision know all. I already said that i know there needs to be change and that the team isn't quite where I had hoped it would be. I don't really know how to run a hockey team, and you're NOT running the team, so excuse me when I disagree with what you suggest, and excuse me when I don't have the proper solution. At no time does that put me in a denial bubble, or have me clinging to status quo. I have an idea of who what players I dislike, and what players I like, and I have an idea of who is performing to their contract and who isn't. Those are all my opinions, and at no time am I going to present those as facts. A few last things: I don't care much for the drama of Team Apathy, Team Sunshine and Kittens, and Team Storm cloud. I just like to come on this board and read nice HOCKEY discussions. I like everyone's OPINIONS on where the team stands, and certain players. At no time am I going to LAMBAST them for their opinions. It's the differing opinions that make these conversations fun and entertaining. When you present your opinions as facts is when I have an issue (and not just you, but anyone). I'm not entrenched and pleased with mediocrity, and neither is most of this board. It's why we're mostly here. Discuss what changes can be made, argue a little here and there, and then go back to our lives after. You seem to want to put yourself on a pedestal, while making it known that YOU know best for this team. It's kind of annoying.

absolutely correct sir. Like Aud Smell said: if he has the work ethic, working with Gary Roberts is going to be the best thing for him!

seriously?! You've got to be kidding me! Raziel hit the nail on the head above. This is just ridiculous. Excuse me for seeing the glass as half full rather than half empty. I'm not in a denial bubble, and neither are 99% of the posters here. Everyone knows there are problems. Sh!t, we argue over which one is the root problem every freaking day! It even gets us to talking about July of 2007 by 9am every day, which gets old by the way. I understand changes need made, but I also understand that sometimes, success isn't seen with the first year of change. I hold out hope that my favorite franchise is moving forward, and I can give you 10 reasons why I see it moving that direction. You and GoDD will spin that list whichever way you want though to make me look like I'm liquored up on status quo. I have faith in management right now that more changes are coming. I have faith that these changes will help the team. I also believe that if everything goes wrong again this upcoming season, that different changes need made. I'm not in the locker room every day, so I'm not going to pretend to know how Derek Roy, Thomas Vanek, or Ville Leino feel about Lindy. I will say that I believe their quotes were slightly over played in the media, with their words twisted ever so slightly to fit the agenda of a few opinion column writers that don't know how to write an article based solely on facts. I will also say that I really don't give a sh!t about what one players father does, did, or will do. Does it affect the said player, or his ability to play? no you say? than why bother tarnishing someones name when you don't know all the facts? For ###### sake, leave it be! Get off your high horses for 5 minutes! Welcome to the offseason on SS! now, I'm going to another thread where people are discussing real offseason topics, such as possible trades, signings, or sh!t, maybe even playoff games. :wallbash:

annnd you beat me to it.

Well said, especially point #2. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Derek really bounce back next season. Just look at what Drew did in a contract year... ;)
-
It all ended up on the 81 corridor in CNY instead of WNY. We weren't supposed to get any snow at my house until they changed the forecast late last night.
-
Should we ask before or after the riots? ;)
-
fair enough haha.

1/4" of ice, 3" of wet heavy snow...awesome morning here in Dryden/Ithaca area. No power this morning. Wonderful start to the week
-
I'm not finding the snow awesome today at all. I had a 1/4" of ice underneath 3" of heavy wet snow at my house in Dryden. Nothing like down trees and no power on a Monday morning. I'm glad I showered last night <_< Also doesn't help that I have an hour drive and the roads on my hill were not plowed at all. I'll save the rest for Thursday

I wish I could get out of my office! I can see the sunlight...but I can't get out :( It is nice out though. F'N Fantastic: Just bought my girlfriend and myself 2 tickets to go see Luke Bryan, Lee Brice, and Justin Moore in Big Flats in June. It's her last "free" summer, as she starts med school in the fall. I'm trying to get her out to do a bunch of things she's always wanted to do before she starts. I'm also taking her to her first MLB game too down at Yankee Stadium the weekend before the concert.

I have some fruit for later, but otherwise, just a salad for lunch today. I plan on running 2 miles before dinner. nothing impressive, but it's as far as I can run lol. my lungs hate me afterwards...stupid asthma.
-
I hear you man. I just had a salad, and my body is doing the same exact thing.
-
that's pretty bad...
-
it was open prior...just no one went looking for it haha
-
it's quarter after 10, and there are no good complaints to read about, other than the tedious discussions.
-
agreed. I do not think Hodgson for Schenn would be beneficial to us at all, and in fact would be a set back, let alone the fact that Schenn isn't that good.
-
I'd be game for adding Ott. I don't know/haven't seen a ton of Konopka.

I"M SO JEALOUS! The year AFTER I leave ROC, they put Mighty in there :( Now I need one in Ithaca :flirt:

Heading out to the girlfriends parents for much of the weekend after work (although the girlfriend won't be there till tomorrow morning, but her brother, one of my best friends, will be there anyways). Going to rototill the garden for her mom, and just get a little bit of housework done for them while the weather is really nice. I love yardwork and housework when the weather is nice :)
