I think it is more likely that TSN did sloppy research and Yerdon probably just regurgitating that than Puckpedia and all the public info out there is wrong about when Byram becomes a UFA.

And I feel like that would be such a huge change we would have heard it reported. We are talking age 26 or 6 accrued seasons to UFA status which is big for hockey. Also Puckpedia still lists his UFA status as 2027.

Something else to think about, an offer sheet also puts pressure on a team like St Louis who cannot also offer a sheet. It doesn't just pressure Buffalo, it pressures other trade partners. Also Byram might be better off not signing such a sheet.
