  1. I think Ottawa might be better than Buffalo right now on paper. Detroit, no. Their defense alone drops them below Buffalo and Ottawa. I think Rasmus Dahlin's ability to play defense and get the puck up and out is being overshadowed by his early season mistakes. Owen Power was already getting better every game last season and was the best player who wasn't a goalie at the prospect game. Samuelsson will eat you. Lyubushkin is going to really show how to deny entries. If Ryan Johnson signs, there's basically better Jokiharju. What I'm saying is we're focusing a lot on the forwards when the defense is a key factor and a key weakness especially for Detroit.
  2. I mentioned him. Love me some Jake Sanderson. I think he'll be better than Simon Edvinsson this season.
  3. I just looked at the top 10 pools from last year and added in their drafts, really hard to say any are deeper than Buffalo.
  4. I think Ottawa could be better talent wise than Buffalo. I don't see it in Detroit. Also, how will a new coach impact Detroit. There's unknowns everywhere including Buffalo. But as others have said, we have to compare full rosters as opposed to what perrault is doing which is, they made moves we didn't so they are better. We once signed Hall, how'd that go? Sanderson is good but why would he be better than Power? They're only 5 months apart and both parties played 2 ncaa years. Should be interesting to watch both.
  5. Prospects for the Sabres would include: Owen Power, Jack Quinn, JJ Peterka, Noah Östlund, Jiri Kulich, Matt Savoie, Victor Neuchev, Isak Rosen, Prokhor Poltapov, Alek Kisakov, Mats Lindgren, Albert Lyckasen, Nikita Novikov, Lukas Rousek, Josh Bloom, Olivier Nadeau, Tyson Kozak, Ryan Johnson, Eric Portillo, Devon Levi, UPL. Now a bunch of these players won't make it but that is most everyone of note. LA, Caroline maybe, Ducks have a good system. We probably have the deepest system but we also just made 22 picks instead of 14 so that kinda makes sense. We will have to see but I would put Buffalo probably at 1, only matters though if Buffalo develops all these players. Good news is the prospects themselves talk about how much contact they get from the Development staff.
  6. I would say we are top 2. I would not have said that last year but with the additions of Kulich, Savoie, and Östlund it is hard not to see us at the top right now.
  7. Cozens is training this summer in London, Ontario. Nice of him to stop down for a few to hang out with the prospects.
  8. If someone wants to give us something nice to take a camp dumb (preferably on defense) I would be willing to do it. Then they can go get Kadri.
  9. This came up in another thread about freedom and having a system or not etc... We have the Defensive Zone, Neutral Zone, and Offensive Zone. How does Granato's system work in all three? I will say that there is a set breakout in the defensive zone. Typically once a player wins a puck in the corner they have 3 options. 1, chip up the wall. 2, a forward typically comes back into the center of the zone between the faceoff dots for a middle ice pass. 3, a defender will drop to the goal for a behind the net pass. Once the option is chosen the forwards or defenders attack up ice in numbers. I think option 2 is the preferred option as it allows the far side defender to also attack up ice and provide a pass for the forward who just got the puck in the middle of the zone. The middle of the zone player with the puck can pressure right, left or center helping to spread out the defense and enter the zone with control.
  10. I can't think of a reason to put a guy who has played against men for the last 2 years in the worst of the major junior leagues in NA. I would send Kulich to the AHL if it were me, he will just destroy the Q after a short adjustment period.
  11. @PerreaultForever walk us through the Senators and Red Wings additions, one by one. For each one show us the comparable player on the Sabres. You keep claiming others are wrong with no interest in explaining further, here's your chance. I will even list all the additions for you. Again, adding players does not equal improvement just because you added guys in UFA or via trades at the draft. Detroit: Andrew Copp, David Perron, Ben Chariot, Dominik Kubalik, Olli Matta, Mark Pysyk, Ville Husso. Ottawa: Alex Debrincat, Claude Giroux, Cam Talbot, Jacob Larsson. Here is who each team added. Keeping in mind they both lost players to make this additions in UFA but compare them to Buffalo. Buffalo: Owen Power, Jack Quinn, John-Jason Peterka, Alex Tuch, Peyton Krebs, Illya Lyubushkin, Eric Comrie (Buffalo adds since last season started).
  12. Who gives a *****? Like seriously why should I care? Oddsmakers are there to make money not predict winners.
  13. I don't agree at all that this is how they play. They have a system, and in some ways it mirrors the Avalanche. Attack with speed in transition, control entries, on zone exits you have an up the wall option and middle of the zone option and typically a behind the net option. Once the breakout begins it is full blast up ice to score on rushes.
  14. We won't so, idc. Oddsmakers set lines based on betting behavior. Betters in general don't follow the Sabres so it is easy for them to remember that Buffalo has missed the playoffs for 11 years and had an 18 game losing streak 2 years ago. Further, as has been repeatedly pointed out to you (even though you quite literally have ignored the posts and continue to just yap about how good Detroit and Ottawa are now) the Sabres made additions to the roster in season that a lot of the betters will miss. Vegas' job is to make money so they have to set those lines at places where the betting comes in so they make money. That comes from history and history for the last decade says the Sabres suck so of course that's where they get put. Odds makers are often wrong so idk why you keep bringing this up like I should care. I once bet on the Sabres to beat the Leafs at +450. It was a great day.
  15. Linus Sjodin has been noticeable in a good way.
  16. Both facebook and twitter when playing audio automatically start at 50% volume, you would need to adjust it in that app and then on your laptop.
  17. I want to add again, the Senators and Redwings had to make moves in UFA to fill gaping holes in their lineup. The only reason this argument exists is because they did stuff and the prevailing sentiment is doing something = improvement. Guess we'll find out pretty quickly considering we open the season against Ottawa. We also play both teams, Ottawa and Detroit, thrice by the new year.
  18. Team Perrault has the best balance Team Hasek has the best goaltending Team Robert has the best forwards Team Hasek has the best overall defense
  19. So just so we are clear, the Calgary Flames who lost a series 4-1 were a playoff dud so our win against them doesn't count but the Boston Bruins who lost their first round series 4-3 are a real playoff team and that proves we sucked still down the stretch. That's a special kind of "trying to be objective". We also beat the Wild, lost in ot to the Rangers, lost in a SO to the Jets and Pens and Caps. I like how beating the Toronto Maple Leafs is just brushed off as well. Basically you only want to count the bad losses to the Bruins, Florida, and St Louis, while ignoring the good teams we beat or lost to in a shootout (which is a skills competition where the goalie really matters). Objective my ass. You are a pessimist.
