  1. Since this comes up over and over and over... in that top 10, the only 2 "smaller" guys are Östlund and Rosen. Before someone mentions Ziemer or Helenius, both of those guys are 190lbs or bigger and at 5'11" that is stout and they play stout. Could we use more size in the pool at forward? Yes, you can always use that but we aren't small. All 3 defenders listed are 6'3" or bigger. #11 is Strbak so there is another big defender (6'2" 203lbs) If Buffalo were to add Misa (6'1") or Hagens (5'11") I don't think it would be the end of the world. In the 2025 draft, I think talent is going to drop fast so after our 2nd round pick, draft a bunch of guys with a skill or 2 and size and hope you get lucky.
  2. Scott Wheeler ranks Buffalo's prospect pool at 11. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6083745/2025/01/29/sabres-nhl-prospects-rankings-2025/?source=emp_shared_article This is a good read and he actually updates and re-ranks his pools. Here's the top 10 for those without a sub, rest of you go read it. Kulich Helenius - Part of the write-up I think everyone should read: "Helenius put together one of the most productive under-18 seasons in Liiga history last year, entering into similar territory as names like Patrik Laine, Kaapo Kakko and Mikael Granlund without quite chasing down record-holder Aleksander Barkov. He wasn’t just one of the better young players in Liiga, or one of the better players on Jukurit, either. He became one of the top players in the league, period — cemented by an excellent Liiga playoffs. He did it while sticking at his natural center position as a 5-foot-11 17-year-old, too." Levi Rosen Östlund Novikov (ik!) Komarov Wahlberg Ziemer Kleber
  3. Zach Benson is the 4th youngest NHL-er this year.
  4. Jack Quinn! Or Benson!
  5. JJ addressed it.
  6. Power owes UPL a beer and a steak dinner.
  7. The $29, 2-foot nachos.
  8. Sabres already have 5
  9. Oh my Peterka
  10. Do you have delicious Belgian Beers? Than not psycho at all.
  11. I'm sorry, you're partially correct. Cam Allen was captain but martone was on 2 u18 teams in consecutive years and was captain after Allen moved on to the u20. So in 2022, Allen is C of u18 In 2023, Martone is C of u18 In 2024, Yager is C of u20
  12. Negative, he's C of his ohl team. He wasn't C on the u18 either, Cam Allen was. As to Misa, he has the rush and shot game like Bedard. He actually is reminding a bit of better skating Seth Jarvis.
  13. Just to clarify, Misa is 6'1" so he's not small. Martone was not team Canada's C at the wjc20. Yager was the Capt. Considering how poorly team Canada did, I think they could have used Misa. Martone had 1a in 3 games.
  14. He's putting yes men into key positions. He wants little to no resistance for whatever he decides to do.
  15. Misa, he's kinda like Bedard. I would take Hagens at 2 although I might be persuaded to take Misa. Martone is a winger and his shot and overall 200ft game is not as refined as either of these two. Martone revs at lower RPMs.
  16. Do you not understand the endgame here?
  17. Stop trying to get rid of McLeod Centers would be: Pettersson Kulich McLeod Krebs I'd try Thompson with Pettersson. I think it's hard to say because I don't believe all the coaches return and the system will change a bit. Edit: I'd add we don't know if Kulich will continue or even maintain his level of play, it's smart to build in redundancy like McLeod or even Thompson.
  18. Something something deck chairs, Something Something titanic.
  19. Cozens, Byram, 2025 2nd rounder for Pettersson. That's my offer.
  20. Sabres fans: we rush all our prospects, wtf!?! Also Sabres fans: this guy is 22 and hasn't made the NHL, we should trade him.
  21. A top 5 pick in this draft helps us rebalance the pool more. Misa and Hagens would be physical forwards that aren't small. Hagens would be a 200ft playmaker at C. I'm not counting on them to save us, I'd count on them to improve us. We have to move a lhd at some point. We should move a current top 6 forward. We can use those pieces instead of losing a top 3 draft pick.
  22. I would rather trade Byram than pick #3. Byram is a lhd that we have to pay on a team with 2 other lhd of high money and skill. You can get Pettersson and then in 2 years play him with Misa. Again, this godforesaken franchise have lowered the bar so low, it's down to "make playoffs" If you're doing this trade you use assets you can part with. No one trades unprotected top 5 picks.
