Here's the thing, ignore this specific trade, Adams has not improved the Buffalo Sabres.
-
Idk. Doesn't really matter. Miller was never coming to Buffalo and Pettersson was a long shot.
-
I think that after many years, my feelings about Rossi were correct. I mean, he wasn't coming to Buffalo anyways.
-
Shut it down... we're not gonna do anything
-
Michael Misa interestingly enough, only would need 1 more Jr year before becoming AHL eligible.
-
Actually because all of you keep mentioning size over and over and over. Seth Jarvis and Marco Rossi. That's my counter argument. I think Zach Benson will get there too. Rosek, Östlund, and Savoie do not play hockey the way Jarvis, Rossi, and Benson do. It isn't about just size, it is about fight. This team needs heart and fight. Misa, Martone, both have some snarl to them regardless of their size. Misa is more consistent and his engine revvs higher. I want engine revvs higher over size every day of the week. See Power, Owen or Thompson, Tage for why that is.

Some what... Fantilli is 6'2" 195lbs Misa is 6'1" 185lbs I guess Carlsson (6'3") is bigger and Hagens (5'11") is smaller. Honestly Fantilli and Misa are fairly similar.
-
Yes. Fantilli and Carlsson would be on the level of Hagens, Misa, Martone. I'd have to think how'd I'd rank them. Probably... Fantilli, Hagens, Misa, Carlsson, Martone if I had to do it quick. I'd argue that the top of this draft is better than 2024.

Marco Rossi and Seth Jarvis
-
If we draft 3rd, you want Michael Misa. His engine revs higher and he plays with more pace than Martone. There's more consistency to Misa.

This has nothing to do with my point.

Carter Bear, 6' 176lb C/LW in the WHL.

What will be the Sabres approach at the trade deadline?

I suppose you could move Samuelsson and offset the Byram deal but I don't think you get as good a return so another option at least. -

I think the coaching staff sucks then. Cozens has tanked every single line he has been on. I won't argue about last night because every 4th or 5th game Cozens is solid but even still you see the mistakes and the inability to win pucks. Byram I think is fine but the Sabres should not keep a trio of LHD that take up... about 29% of the cap. So who are we moving to improve the team, Byram, Power, or Dahlin? -
Since this comes up over and over and over... in that top 10, the only 2 "smaller" guys are Östlund and Rosen. Before someone mentions Ziemer or Helenius, both of those guys are 190lbs or bigger and at 5'11" that is stout and they play stout. Could we use more size in the pool at forward? Yes, you can always use that but we aren't small. All 3 defenders listed are 6'3" or bigger. #11 is Strbak so there is another big defender (6'2" 203lbs) If Buffalo were to add Misa (6'1") or Hagens (5'11") I don't think it would be the end of the world. In the 2025 draft, I think talent is going to drop fast so after our 2nd round pick, draft a bunch of guys with a skill or 2 and size and hope you get lucky.

Scott Wheeler ranks Buffalo's prospect pool at 11. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6083745/2025/01/29/sabres-nhl-prospects-rankings-2025/?source=emp_shared_article This is a good read and he actually updates and re-ranks his pools. Here's the top 10 for those without a sub, rest of you go read it. Kulich Helenius - Part of the write-up I think everyone should read: "Helenius put together one of the most productive under-18 seasons in Liiga history last year, entering into similar territory as names like Patrik Laine, Kaapo Kakko and Mikael Granlund without quite chasing down record-holder Aleksander Barkov. He wasn’t just one of the better young players in Liiga, or one of the better players on Jukurit, either. He became one of the top players in the league, period — cemented by an excellent Liiga playoffs. He did it while sticking at his natural center position as a 5-foot-11 17-year-old, too." Levi Rosen Östlund Novikov (ik!) Komarov Wahlberg Ziemer Kleber
