  1. Uhhh... I would caution anyone reading the description of what happened.
  2. Modified 10 team NTC according to capfriendly. Not that it matters as I think Vegas would be in denial were they do hit the trade deadline significantly out of the playoff race.
  3. Found it. https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2021/10/cole-perfetti-assigned-to-ahl.html Basically there was an exemption carved out due to the canceled OHL year. If you played at least 20 AHL games in the canceled year, your NHL team could ignore the age rule and assign you back into the AHL even if you were not 20 yet.
  4. Correct. I am actually unsure how Perfetti was able to play in the AHL last year. The cutoff is December 31, you have to be 20 by then. He turned 20 on Jan 1 so he shouldn't have been AHL eligible as far as I understand it.
  5. Really quick note. The fact that Mattias Samuelsson is listed in the "projected to play NHL games" category and in the description is talked about as probably a 3rd pairing defender due to lack of offense did make me laugh. While I think Muel will always lag behind others in terms of his offense, his ability to shutdown a rush, get the puck, and make the smart read and zone exit is quite good. My only concern continues to be the quickness of his feet but I think paired with Dahlin, it won't really matter as much as long as he continues to improve there. Also Jack Quinn was rated as a "below average" nhl skater and that is preposterous to me. Is he as fast as say Kulich or Savoie, no. But he is very quick and does have good speed. His edges are greatly improved too. My issue with Pronman's skating rankings will continue to be his die hard devotion to breakaway speed being a determining factor in how good someone skates. While he seems aware of edgework and quickness (your first 2-3 steps), he constantly will equate below NHL average skating with breakaway speed and once he determines you don't have that, doesn't matter if you get it later. Just narrowed minded way to rank skating.
  6. These are the ranked players in Pronman's list. Tiers: 1-3 (all star or bubble all star) 4-7 (top or bubble top of lineup) 8-11 (middle of lineup/starting goalie) 12-19 (projected to play in the NHL) Rasmus Dahlin Dylan Cozens Owen Power Jack Quinn Peyton Krebs Matthew Savoie JJ Peterka Juri Kulich Devon Levi Noah Östlund Ryan Johnson Mattias Samuelsson Mats Lindgren Olivier Nadeau Isak Rosen Viktor Neuchev Eric Portillo Topias Leinonen Nikita Novikov Here are the honorable mentions so to speak (he puts them in alphabetical order) Josh Bloom, Filip Cederqvist, Aaron Huglen, Alek Kisakov, Prokhor Poltapov
  7. I wish the NHL would get with the times and make an app you can subscribe too. I know there is an NHL app but I mean something that is actually useful with less blackouts and bs. The old farts who run the NHL are so behind the times it isn't funny. At least with ESPN in the mix ESPN+ has games but then the playoffs start and it is like... well geeze, everyone has the cable right? No one is buying the deluxe cable package with this stuff on it. That said, I have developed a love for women's hockey. It is perhaps slower than the men's game but that almost allows certain skills to shine a bit more. Also, I love following Hillary Knight
  8. All I can express is sorrow for your loss. I can't imagine what you are going through but know that people do care and you aren't alone. I don't know how much comfort it is but the fact your son donated his organs so others might live, is one of the noblest things any human can do.
  9. Anyone have the video on this?
  10. His list is 22 and younger regardless of games played. https://theathletic.com/3509824/2022/08/25/buffalo-sabres-nhl-pipeline-rankings-prospects?source=user-shared-article
  11. The short answer is yes. The longer answer is kind of. A bunch of our defensive prospects won't be at the tourney and also we don't have a ton.
  12. Brent Burns was 33 and Karlsson was 28. Karlsson has had significant injuries after the trade. Rasmus Dahlin is 22 and Owen Power is about to be 20. I think we are fooling ourselves if we believe Owen Power will only earn around 4mil for his second deal (unless they bridge him). Guess we shall see.
  13. I think it's a worthwhile exercise even if I don't agree with the list.
  14. The list is an example of anchoring. Where you initially rank someone has a heavy weight and anchors them in that place. Some loved Pekar because he had decent ushl and ohl numbers but also because he hit things like Dahlin at prospects camp. Unfortunately you're 100% right. It's far less likely a 22yr old with 2 ahl seasons who only managed 6 pts each is going to develop into something above replacement level. It's more likely 19yr old Poltapov does because of his longer runway.
  15. They should not. Bold statement on Quinn and JJP considering we haven't even seen them play in the NHL for more than a hot second.
  16. I would expect Jack Quinn to be better than Mittelstadt's rookie year and closer to Raymond's. A 25g, 25a campaign if very plausible for Quinn. As to the bold, his track record? The guy just torched the AHL in a way rarely seen and will be on a team that spent last year figuring it out. He's got a great chance to be decent right off the bat as opposed to the mediocre OHL year and AHL year I think you are alluding too. Jack Quinn might drop 50pts this year as his down year and then next year be an 80pt forward. Time will tell and that we might count as a down year. I would also add (for those thinking of Mitts) that Mitts played 1 NCAA year and then hit the NHL far before he should have. Quinn has now had 2 post draft years and 1 of them was in the AHL. NCAA hockey is good but it is a solid step below the AHL so the jump to the NHL should be less for Quinn. So you have 1 year older and 1 full AHL season versus 1 year younger and coming straight from the NCAA.
  17. I used the start of the season because for the first 50ish game they were 1 team and then for the last 30ish games they were really a completely different team. They finished the last 28 games on something like a 100pt pace versus playing the first 50ish games at something like a 75 point pace. If Detroit is so much better because of what they did in UFA but the Sabres aren't, why do the in season moves not count when they clearly showed improvement and that they mattered. Not saying you said they didn't count just in the media in general.
  18. I keep hoping they will pull off a trade for someone like Helge Grans from LA. Johnson for Grans makes so much sense for so many reasons.
  19. He needs to get quicker still. I think he will but there will be some ups and downs. He's a top 4 defender on this team and most likely is Dahlin's partner all year.
  20. I suppose I should give a serious answer. Jack Quinn will have a couple of good games in October as I have found sometimes the hardened NHL vets take a few games to get rolling early where as kids are pumped to be in the show. As October wanes and November begins, Quinn will fade a bit. Part of it will be the "I made the NHL" adrenaline will start to subside and teams will have some tape on him to take away some of Quinn's favorite things. December is most likely when Quinn hits a bit of a wall, he might even get a game off before christmas just because he is banged up a little and needs a quick reset. Once he comes back from Christmas break he will start to round into true form. Post all star break he will be exceedingly good. My prediction would be if he gets PP time (he should) that we see him get about 15-20goals and about 15-20assists. A 40point season for Quinn would be very good and considering that a rising tide lifts all boats, I think the much improved team under Granato makes this more likely than it ever was for Mitts or even Cozens in their rookie years. Owen Power will be good. All year. He'll be a top 3 Calder candidate.
  21. Yup. For a player who is supposedly so darn good, how come he scores so darn never.
  22. " Brad Lambert, RW, Winnipeg Lambert was a star of the December tournament, but struggled at this event, seeing his ice time cut as the event progressed down to being a healthy scratch. He had flashes of showing his great speed and skill, but he struggled to make a lot of plays at the fast pace of the tournament, and a lot of his offense came from the outside. Next year will be his year to have a bigger role at this event" https://theathletic.com/3523855/2022/08/20/iihf-world-junior-championship-2022?source=user-shared-article
  23. "Jiri Kulich, LW, Buffalo As with Kemell, Kulich was average at this tournament before it was cancelled in December, but he was all of a sudden a go-to player in this event and a statistical leader for Czechia. Kulich showed the speed, skill and scoring ability that made him a recent first-round pick but was also strong on pucks and wasn’t physically overwhelmed by going up against older players." https://theathletic.com/3523855/2022/08/20/iihf-world-junior-championship-2022?source=user-shared-article Corey Pronman
