  1. Comrie was 2nd in GSAE (Goals Saved Above Expected) last season when adjusted by TOI, so per 60minutes. Igor Shesterkin: 0.666 Eric Comrie: 0.603 Linus Ullmark: 0.147 So even though Comrie only has 19 games compared to Ullmark's 41, Comrie saved 10.3gsae compared to 5.7 for Linus. Comrie is all about analytics key-ing in on a guy and then the scouts and Adams going to work. Definitely a gamble but it isn't like Comrie was behind some amazing defense last year and had magic numbers. The career sv% numbers in this case are being ignored. I think he was 100% a target because of the work analytics did.
  2. Not to mention the NYI did basically nothing this offseason and already fired the coach that was holding that team together.
  3. I don't think there is any reason to put Owen Power out in this tournament. He should be prepping for his NHL season and he has already played at higher levels consistently. Let him focus on Sabres camp and preseason to get ready to roll for a long 82 game season.
  4. Power rankings are written primarily by lazy national guys who need some clicks. So they do little to no extra research on the bottom feeding teams and those bottom feeding teams are based on perception. The Sabres are going to surprise a lot of ppl this season because I think they are the the team we saw in the final 28 and I think we see more sustained success. I would put us right around 24-ish in the league this year for a start of season power ranking (based on my perceptions lol).
  5. Skinner, like the rest of the team isn't learning Granato's system while unlearning Kreuger's to start the year. Just something to think about.
  6. Peterka not playing surprises me somewhat. I thought they may send him to Rochester to start the year due to numbers but guess it is an open competition he's getting ready for. If JJP and Quinn make the Sabres, idk how Bjork has a spot.
  7. Nick Suzuki was just named Captain of the Montreal Canadiens
  8. I think I saw Mac Jones is 2-8 when his defense gives up more than 14 points.
  9. and yet you never call, you never write. Who's the other woman in your life? Tell me, I can take it.
  10. Quinn above Rossi yet again. Power is going to have to fight off McTavish I think. Beniers might be 2nd but he is on a worse team so I think McTavish will have some advantages there.
  11. Idk if anyone noticed this but yesterday the Sabres released a video in support of the Bills from keybank center and Dahlin, Tuch, Tage, Okposo, I think Bryson and Zemgus were all there clearly practicing together in some way.
  12. Oh I get it. You don't like me and wanted to take a shot. Guessing this has to with Sabres draft takes because we all know I haven't been against Josh Allen for years which seems to be your weird implication here. I mean, whatever makes your day.
  13. I love posts like this. You either don't understand or more likely, don't care to understand. Either way it is just another person who doesn't like stats (doesn't understand their uses) taking shots because they found an outlier. Here is what outlier means, hopefully this helps you. "An outlier is an observation that lies an abnormal distance from other values in a random sample from a population."
  14. Rasmey called him trash a few years back I am pretty sure that Josh is like...
  15. Im gonna tell my kid this is Josh Allen
  16. Is Östlund grows 1" (I really just need him to be 5'11") and adds about 30lbs, there is some incredible talent hidden there.
  17. Really quickly. The lesson to take away from Josh Allen isn't that the stats don't matter, it is that personality/opportunity/setting also matters. For a hockey example we can talk about Noah Östlund right now. His stats show some potential for sure but when you dig into the POS (hehe) you start to understand he can be more. Tage Thompson is becoming an example, Tage shouldn't have made the jump he did at his age but you know what, he worked hard and did. Again it isn't "ignore the stats, they don't matter" but more of the stats are a part of a larger equation. Josh Allen is the ultimate outlier, Josh Allen should not be good but he is. As long as you remember that Allen is an outlier and not every QB with physical traits and bad stats can become him, you'll be good. Josh Allen is an outlier, not all inaccurate physically gifted college QBs will be outliers. Josh Allen is a unicorn.

  19. Holy poop we agree. This right here is what we've needed for YEARS. Dahlin has heart. Tuch has heart. Cozens has heart. I think Tage is finding his more and more. Power has heart. Samuelsson has heart. I hope Quinn does. We know JJP does. There is a lot of heart on this team and you see it manifest with how close they are off the ice and how they interact. The biggest heart on the team though, Kyle Okposo.
  20. My understanding is that Jack Quinn likes his off hand side because it allows him to cut into the center to take shots. Also he can be loaded and ready to go on cross ice passes for one timers by being on his off hand. Rochester seems to have used him like that often.
  21. Östlund has been on line 1 while Lekkerimaki is playing in the bottom 6 during what is basically preseason.
