Samuelsson was meh that period Jokiharju made some iffy passes Dahlin looked really good Forwards all kinda blending but Tage and Skinner are both noticeable. Mediocre period of hockey from Buffalo. Felt like it took 5min for them to get their feet going and there was far too many long passes to nowhere. Got better when players started to carry the puck a little and the offensive zone started to have some good rotations. Power was good on one of them. Looks like preseason hockey but I like how we seemed to settle in as things went on.

This is a key factors we should all probably talk more about. A lot of these guys are internally motivated to be better. I think of Kisakov, someone who quite literally left his home country, came to the US barely speaking the language, dealt with a month long immigration issue, and finally got into game action. That's a different type of person at 19 to do all those things. A lot of humble and hungry type of players with the right personalities seem to be added to the team and that includes a lot of recent draft picks. There aren't really any character questions or talk of "needs to stay engage" or "sometimes can take shifts off" that crop up in other players scouting reports. Lots of constant motors with good coachability, and talent.

And in those final 28 games we saw the results. With that in mind we have reinforcements for this year in JJP and Quinn, along with Power and Boosh on the blueline. I am very curious to see if that is enough of a shift in the balance of power this team could muster to sustain over 82 games what we managed in 28. Quinn and JJP are likely to have uneven campaigns but it has to be better than Hayden and Eakin.

Sidenote, what if Savoie makes the team? Mitts - Savoie - Okposo Skinner - Thompson - Olofsson Quinn - Cozens - Tuch Asplund - Krebs - JJP Hinostroza - Zemgus idk something like that

My first reaction readin this was, no way, Zemgus can be the 13th forward and that might still be the case. That said, I can't fit him into the starting lineup if everyone is healthy next year. Too much talent as you point out in Savoie, Rousek, and Kulich waiting in the wings. Rising tide of talent is great to see but it means harder player choices are coming up as soon as this offseason.

I think this is the first year since 2011 in which there is enough talent to do it.

Interestingly Power is not get PP2 time in this game and it is going to Joker. I wonder if they will try and make Power the PK guy, because I thought for sure he would get the PP2 time from Joker.
